I realized that there is one downside to simping for fictional anime boys. It's that I cAn'T dRaW aNiMe WoMen... I'm so bad im sorry.... ;-; for this hella scuffed concept sketch... idek if that looks like Ruki..

Mukami Shitty Thing: The Happiness Within

Although his brothers were his definition of family for a long time, meeting you was what helped him figure out his way to live. Your presence was the reason he managed to survive till this day, and he cherished it, not imagining the world without it.

The coldness slowly creeping through the mattress of your shared bed started to mock him in his sleep, and he moved uneasily, finally opening his eyes and looking around, slightly confused.

You weren’t here, weren’t by his side, undoubtedly that was the reason your half of the bed started to get cold. But he could hear your voice in the attached room, where your child slept.

♥ Ruki ♥

It made the corners of his lips lift in a small, sincere smile. He didn’t even think twice before sitting up and glancing towards the door. The shadows were close to motionless, making him realize you were not going back anytime soon. He didn’t hesitate before standing up and going to the other room quietly, and then standing in the door, watching you hover above your child. The little one was already sleeping, but your voice didn’t stop, and although the child couldn’t hear it any more, your eyes were on it, focusing on it so much you didn’t even notice before Ruki sat down beside you, wrapping arms around you and pulling you backwards, into his chest.

“Aren’t you sleeping?” you whispered sleepily, glancing up.

“I couldn’t without you” he replied, placing his head in the crook of your neck, as if it belonged there.

“Cheesy” you laughed quietly.

“Then so be it.”

A short silence fell upon the two of you, before a yawn escaped your lips, and you unwittingly closed your eyes, leaning back into your husband’s chest. 

You didn’t even notice before you fell asleep, and neither did you remember Ruki carrying you back to bed.

♦ Yuma ♦

Your voice brought him peace, and he put his hands under his head, staring at the ceiling for some time, just thinking. Quickly though, he got bored with the lack of your presence, and even your voice couldn’t soothe his growing discomfort.

“Come back here” he whined, loudly enough for you to hear, but – hopefully – not too loud, as he supposed you were trying to put your child to sleep.

It took you another few minutes to finish the song, and he already sat up, ready to follow you there and carry back to bed.

Before you arrived though, he could hear your voice, quiet, but clear enough for his vampire hearing.

“Now excuse me, I need to take care of the other child.”

He let out an unamused snort, but the displeased expression quickly disappeared when he saw you enter the room, a wide smile on your face as you stared at him, a bit mockingly.

“Want me to sing you to sleep, too?” you spoke, to which he only huffed.

“Just come here. Don’t leave yo’ husband without saying anything, duh.”

His hand reached your wrist when you were in its range, and pulled you down onto the mattress. The very moment you were back in bed, he laid down as well, and even sooner than you fell asleep yourself, his own quiet snore echoed in the room.

♠ Kou ♠

Although he couldn’t understand a word, your voice was more pleasant to his ears than any other he’d heard. It felt special, hear you make your music; even though you weren’t a professional, nowhere close to him, to his ears it was the best sound anyone could ever hear.

He stayed in bed, taking in as much of the sound as possible. He waited patiently, not moving, admiring the way your voice echoed in the room, until the very moment you were finished, your child probably asleep, and you came back to your bedroom, on the tips of your toes, carefully slipping under the cover.

His arm instantly wrapped around your waist, pulling you close to the vampire’s chest. His nose buried in your hair and inhaled deeply, but none of you said anything, enjoying each other’s presence, as if it could disappear any moment.

And although both of you thought about starting some sort of bed talk there, you fell asleep in each other’s arms before you managed to find a good word to utter.

♣ Azusa ♣

He stared at the slightly ajar door for some time, slowly losing himself in your angelic voice. Was it always so beautiful? He always loved it, this much he knew. It resembled him of the best things in his life, of the change he went through to become whom he was today. In the dark times, your voice was there to guide him, and he cherished it.

Deep in his thoughts, he didn’t even notice when you came back to your room, and he sat up abruptly, reaching his hand towards you, as if pleading for you to take it.

Which you did, sitting next to him. His breathing was slightly laboured, you noticed, and you didn’t think twice before wrapping arms around his neck, letting his head rest against your chest. His breathing calmed down when his hands shyly crept around your own body, and he closed his eyes, starting to drift off, because it definitely wasn’t a proper time for any of you to stay awake.

You only placed him back on the mattress, lying down yourself. You kissed his forehead, nose, then briefly brushed his lips with your own, to which he hummed quietly, forcing his eyes open to look at you just a moment more.

“Goodnight” you whispered, resting your head on his chest and letting the slumber take over you again.

Me llama la atención que tanto Shuu como Ruki tengan este tipo de ojos conocidos como tareme (たれ目) que significa literalmente 'ojos caídos'

La diferencia es que los de Ruki son más exagerados y alargados, dándole una apariencia más de zorro, mientras que los de Shuu son más redonditos, lo que lo hace parecer más un lirón jajaja

PD: me gustaría hacer un dibujo con mis tres favoritos; Carla, Shuu y Ruki! A ver si se me ocurre algo~ 👀

ayo what a coincidence that your ask is done on his birthday! (haha totally did not plan that hahahahah)

hmmm... well I gotta say,,, happy birthday Ruki!

So... it's been about 2 years since I've simped hard for this mofo right here. As toxic as he really is, he helped me live through probably the toughest 2 years of my life. After covid hit and I was in lockdown, I had the chance to play DL games... and I really can't imagine what it would've been like without him... ik it's hella toxic and no one deserves to be in that much pain, but I just kept reminding myself that Ruki, and rest of the DL boys, has suffered as much if not more, and it gave me courage to overcome my difficult situations and emotions. As cringe as it sounds, I wake up next to his face everyday smiling, giving me a reason to live another day (yes I have a VC sleeping vampire pillow of him right there)

idk how a fictional character can give someone such emotional support, but since ik it damn well does, I am able to be where I am today (having a pog art tumblr acc, meeting y'all, and most importantly he has given me a clear direction in art because it made me reflect on why I draw and what I really want to do). I really appreciate every one of the bois' existence as well as you followers for letting me know that I really love it when you guys feel good after you see my art. And I want to continue to do whatever I can to do that!
