alex and bernie moment so real.....

alex fama (they/she/any) + bernie vegabond (he/him)

alex and bernie act as a sort of 'polyamory' route in a sense, because while there would be options to sway towards one or the other if the player wanted to, theyre both the love interest of their route. the player can get their route regardless of head choice

they have three main ends; two bad ends and one good end. their route on the surface is about finding bigfoot but its also about passively helping them sort issues in their own relationship, namely helping bernie be more aware and understanding towards alex's paranoia while also helping alex to come out of the extreme shells theyve blocked themself into. siding too hard with one over the other will result in one of the two bad ends.

if you side too hard with alex, you get an end where the three of you break into an attraction in search of bigfoot, and accidentally capture some random dude in a costume and go to jail

if you side too hard with bernie, you find *actual* bigfoot, but act too harsh and scare him, resulting in the three of you getting your asses collectively beat by an ape

in their good end youve helped them find common grounds, helping bernie be more conscious of when alex is becoming too overwhelmed, and helping alex step out of their comfort zone a little more. in this end you are able to find and have a sweet moment with bigfoot, and theres three options for the 'ending scene', one where you can chose to be with just alex, one where you can chose to be with just bernie, and one where you can be with both

alex is a very nervous person. they stutter a lot and tend to speak very bluntly. they have severe paranoia to the point it heavily effects a number of things in their life, a small example is they dont wear shoelaces out of the fear they might trip on them, due to this happening once and resulting in them falling down a short cliff side and breaking their antennae

bernie is more calm and social, its pretty difficult to actively piss him off. however he is very headstrong and stubborn and often goes into things without thinking, having a bad habit of only considering possible outcomes mid way through doing an action, which often results in he and alex getting stuck in less than savory situations

the two are paranormal / supernatural investigators together, and their little 'company' is called a to b investigations.

lets GOOOOO juniper's lad squad / band members finally have refs

some of you may recognize the second and third ones, thats bc theyre old fav ocs of mine that i bestowed the highest honor (made into dt chars) these guys and juniper tend to get in a lot of trouble together and also the four of them may or may not be active spreaders of vampire rumors ive decided. tormenting those old men

in order from left to right:

kipper | nonbinary, he/they + aroace - bubbly sunshine guy who was adopted by a bunch of edgelords - he loves fashion and gardening (can you guess his fav thing to grow lmao) - theyre actually the protector of the group, as hes the most confident and courageous in the face of danger. also keeps rocks + bandaids in that bag hes holding so he can play healing or defense depending on the situation - he and ashton are qpps - originally had a normal rotary phone for a head, but they got a cute little strawberry flipphone and then had their head modeled after it bc he loved it so much (the white dots are rhinestones !) - technically lives with his parents still, but they travel a lot for work and are rarely ever in town so he basically lives in a house on his own that they pay for - plays an electronic keyboard

ashton | agender, he/it + ace and demiro - antisocial and mean and cranky - hes selectively mute and if he does speak its usually to inform someone hes leaving on account of them being boring or annoying - its pretty athletic and can do a few different tricks like backflips and stuff - he has a major interest in bugs, especially arachnids, and actually keeps live spiders and scorpions in his head. which is unfortunate considering the Massive Hole. he has a favorite scorpion and her name is glass - it's junipers next door neighbor in the apartments, its parents kicked it out around the same time juniper was showing up in town and a friend of the family it was on good terms with helped it back on its feet - hes not very expressive physically or emotionally unless hes angry - has a huge blindspot on the half of his face with the hole and if you come at him from that side and get hit bc you spooked him he considers it your fault - plays the drums

almagest | trans, he/him + gay - goes by alma for short - stereotypical gamer boy who lounges around a lot and eats almost exclusively junkfood - despite having a keyboard for a head he does not like it when hes called a catboy. he prefers to be called a ratboy as rats are his favorite animal he just wanted the rainbow gaming keyboard for gamer gender swag - he has pretty poor eyesight and bumps into things a lot, and is partially why kipper always has bandaids on hand - technically lives in an apartment with his dad, who kinda sucks, so he spends a majority of his life either with the friend group or crashing at the place of his old babysitter Amora (he stays there so much he has his own room at her place) - technically knows how to make games himself and has made small demos of things for fun, but struggles to keep motivation up too much to fully develop anything - plays guitar (juniper is usually lead, hes usually rhythm)

did i give an extremely minor nondateable a proper ref before some dateables even got theirs. yes. because she deserves it

lenora (aka ms. cinder as she'd be called in game a majority of the times shed appear) is a minor nondateable that would show up in both murrey and outis' routes, since theyd both have scenes in the flower shop, though she does also appear in chapter 1 as someone the player can ask out (she'd thank the player for their consideration, but explain that she's too busy for a date that day and direct them toward the library instead)

she's acquainted with both dateables in the library and brings them flowers for their birthdays / general holidays if she gets the chance to. (which is something she also does with her employees, kipper and oopsie)

all of the plants in her shop come from her own garden at her self-built home, and she takes great pride in their quality

she isnt a pushover by any means but is very sweet, shes got a sorta royalty vibe in a good way. she carries herself with pride and speaks in a very flowery fashion and usually calls everyone dear/darling

apart from tending her garden, shes also a bee keeper and sews a little in her spare time (she embroidered her clothes herself), and she sketches the butterflies that visit her garden occasionally

shes about 5'10 with the heels shes wearing in the ref, but without them shes 5'7

dont ask how those earrings are hanging onto the plate. just accept it

you can find some info on her here since most of her info/route is still a wip, but some other facts i have on her are uhhh

shes around 5'5 without shoes, the ones shes wearing in the image probably add a little bit though

she has a couple different mobility aids she uses depending on what she needs at the time, but that cane is her favorite/the one shes seen with most often (its metallic/shiny :-] i didnt feel like shading tht though lmao)

different records she puts on her head have different stickers on them (also if youre like me and draw her with an eye, the eyecolor would change depending on the center of the vinyl)

she moved to dialtown from a big city hoping that a calmer environment would help her sort things out in her life a bit more . its not going well for her

the lid on her head is a little rickety, due to the fact that people have grabbed ahold of it when trying to catch her from falling before and caused it to snap off

literally all of jacksons friends are like. infinitely cooler looking than he is. anyway rejoice !!!!!!!!!! exie be upon ye

exie is usually pretty nice up until she isnt, as shes got a bit of a short fuse and her emotions change up very easily, sometimes bouncing around even within the same conversation

she is the other worker at the arcade, she's meetable in chapter one and assumes that the player is a cosplayer/something similar and compliments them on their 'costume making skills'

she was going to be dateable at one point !!!!!!!!! but doesnt actually have anything she needs help with in life really. shes pretty happy with where she is

she used to be pretty self conscious about her physical appearance (being pretty tall + thin + lanky) and occasionally will struggle with it some but for the most part she trained herself into better thinking habits by faking way over the top confidence, she still uses it nowadays as a means to make others laugh/lighten moods and boost herself as well

shes very careful about her box, she HAS to keep it plugged into her head at all times as it sends signals to her brain that keep her heart pumping + lungs breathing + etc etc, shes lived with it ever since she was a little kid and if she becomes unplugged for more than a minute or so she'll die, she refers to it as being on 'life support'

she has a group of friends she keeps in contact with online that live a couple states away, and sort of remain her main friend group aside from her coworkers

likes to jokingly jab at her friends with silly / nonsensical remarks (think 'your mama so crumb strong ants took her away forever' and "L + ratio" type shit)

while very intelligent when it comes to computers (which are her special interest), she doesnt have much of a braincell elsewhere, at least not when directly interacting with other people, since she mostly just wants to act silly while with others

she spent a lot of time bedbound while younger and thanks to that had a lot of time on her hands, which she put towards messing with computers and code

the wedding ring she wears was something a dude traded her for a quarter so that he could play air hockey. she tells people it belongs to her long lost lover. also, the only thing she keeps in the fanny pack is a pen she stole from an ex coworker before he got fired

she usually has her screen displaying some sort of aesthetic-ish screensaver, but she also likes using it to display reaction memes when she gets the opportunity

she has a last name but shed sooner unplug her box than tell you what it is. she knows she could change it if she really wanted but part of her finds it too funny to let go of

this is her main/causal outfit, however shed probably never be seen in it in game, as you only ever really meet her in the arcade in her uniform currently
