Okay so, I've been wrecking my head over this since I finished the game, and no one else seems to address it so...

At the very beginning of the chapter, if you know what's going on, it seems that Toriel was awake when Kris opened the fountain.

But... when that happens at the end she pretty much wasn't? She's very clearly asleep while Kris opens the fountain; they even take their time on putting their soul back without anyone interrupting them. Then, this might be another instance... in the future? Is that a premonition?

(Also side note, but why is she so surprised with the knife when in the scene IMMEDIATELY after this one, she's oh so casually saying:

that doesn't sound like a mother worried that her child carries a knife; THEIR knife, you know, totally normal. What is going on?)
