DM Firestar deciding to kill Bluestar

Scenario: Fireheart finding/realizing Flamesong fell over the edge of the cliff at the end of DM's Dangerous Path. (Does he ever find out Tigerstar held Flamesong down so the dogs caught up to him, btw?)

"But we must move on from this grief. You will be named deputy in Flamesong's place, and you will take on his apprentice. I will make the announcement at sunset" Bluestar turned to pad away.

"No." his voice was hardly a whisper, but she heard it all the same.

She stopped. "It wasn't a request."

Fortunately for you two but unfortunately for Fireheart, those are the same scene.

Also, no, he doesn't find out that Tigerstar held him down.

Idea: Blue gets Snowfur killed to reduce the political powerhouse of her & thistleclaw. He's the loudest on their shared(?) views, but she is the force stopping the Clan from seeing how *bad* he is(?). Whether by Blue's own claws or setting her up to chase that RiverClan apprentice into an ambush, setting the white body upon a snowy Thunderpath and *waiting* until the evidence, with a sickening crunch, shows a tragic accident. "I tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen..."

You see, I thought about that. But there's the issue that Bluestar will always kill Thistleclaw first. He's a choice for deputy and they also hate each other. Why kill her sister when she can remove the problem from the source?

But I am also very attached to Nutmeg killing Thistleclaw so I can't have Bluestar do it.

You said Flame was assumed to be the prophecy kit. What’s the situation with that?

Ha, yeah. So Flame and Fire look nearly identical when they're kits. They get more defining features when they age, but they still look like either of them could be the fire in the prophecy.

Not knowing which is which, Bluestar ensures they both have high ranking mentors (she assumes the prophecy is about the future leadership of Thunderclan). Flame is given to Redtail, and Bluestar gives herself Fire. Flame is later given to Goldenflower after Redtail's death.

As the lovely @Bonefall once pointed out, canon Firestar seemed to have gotten a solid amount of his leadership style from Bluestar. Who, in comparison to the other leaders, is much more selfless and righteous... yeah this Bluestar isn't like that. And, as a result, Fire picks up less positive traits from her.

Flame, in comparison, is much kinder. Bluestar high key trains up Fire to eventually become leader as surely he's the one whose got what it takes.

Anyway, when Tigerclaw is discovered, Bluestar is about to make Fireheart deputy. She looks into his eyes and sees...herself. That is what Starclan wants? That is the future of Thunderclan? More of this? Call it a revelation, call it hysteria, but she names Flamesong as the new deputy cause fuck Starclan.

And then Flamesong dies.

The funny thing is... she was right in her moment on high rock the night of Tigerclaw's betrayal. It's too bad even Starclan isn't as all-seeing as they claim.

I think I should put back the eye scar from the old dm!Firestar design and this time I should make it Bluestar who gives it to him.

Either that, or she gives him a shoulder scar that mimics her own. Something something, putting the same burden and blood of leadership in his shoulders that she'd had.

Have you decided on the events of Bluestar's past yet? What happened to her? I get that she's not really the focus of DMAU but I wanna hear about my mentally ill woman

Ah ha, not really. Generally if it's not in the story, I don't think much about it. But a solid amount of what Bluestar went through feeds into how she behaves in Dark Mirror so I've considered scenarios but never anything solid.

How I write her directly dictates how I write Firestar as his whole thing is trying to be her antithesis but inadvertently feeding into the cycle of bloodshed and leadership.

She's still tragic, losing almost everything in the pursuit of preserving her clan. Acting as Starclan's puppet until she can't take it anymore. It's why Whitestorm is never deputy under her rule despite being her kin. She doesn't want to burden him.

Anyway, she uses her life as an example of true sacrifice to one's clan at the cost of her kin. All she succeeds in doing is disturbing Fire to the point that he goes the exact opposite direction and puts his kin above all else out of fear of losing them.

I want her to have done something treasonous or terrible to have gotten into her position. Or made a decision of placing her clan over kin and someone died (but like that she has to keep private cause y'know murder is still murder). Idk, something that would weigh on her mentally.
