I really need to stop starting dnd campaigns without a plot and setting, istg everytime I get and Idea and immediately get players without having figured out a main plot and end up fighting for my life 4 sessions in because Idk where I'm going. Juggling making the battlemaps, worldbuiling on the fly, trying to figure out who's the bbeg and their motivation, tying the personal plotlines of players and executive dysfunction(my dreaded nemesis)
Idk if I should just roll with it hoping I figure it out, take a wee break to actually flesh out the plot without feeling like I'm running on a bridge I'm building as I go, or talk to my players and tell them I feel like I fucked up the foundations and fear I'm going nowhere
