Happy whenever this finds you. For me it is Thursday Jan 2, 2025... I drew from the Dark Wood Tarot. And got the 3 of Swords. Often this is a card of heartbreak and betrayal. Let's get into why that is true and not true at the same time. Yes, this is a card of loss. A heard that has been stabbed through, must also mean betrayal. It would be very difficult but not impossible for one to stab themselves in the heart, and increasingly difficult to do it three times. So there must have been an outside something doing the stabbing. When I draw this card for others they focus on the loss part. I understand that. This card is one of the most dramatic and impressive images in all of tarot and oracle work. It is also deeply tied to religious iconography. Which implies that there should be sacrifice. What if this was a card of healing. When a person has cancer they often undergo chemotherapy, a therapy that is designed to kill off a lot of our healthy cells to get at those deadly ones. What if this card is chemo? If we look at the stabbing of the heart as killing a piece that is harming us, so that we can later heal it and therefore ourselves, this is a card of hope. Yes, we really do need to go through hell to get there, but there is still hope that we will be able to come through this time, this situation, this whatever, to a place of healing, and being cancer free.
