Happy whenever this finds you. For this post it will not matter as this is a post about meditation and meditation knows no time! In one of my very recent posts (maybe the last one) I mentioned I would write up my guided meditations. I want to at least offer you some guidelines or ideas for creating your own. A guided meditation is one in which the meditator is guided through with spoken word. At least that is the meaning I will be using. You can find so many on the internet. Many of them are fabulous. And just like anything else, not all of them are for every person. There are some that I find dangerous for me, there are some with background music that makes me stabby, or maybe I just don't like the voice of the narrator. It can take a bit of time and research to find one that fits your needs in the moment. I promise it is worth it.
Guided meditations are useful when your mind is being difficult. It allows you to give a little attention to the voice walking you through the process. It allows you to submit your mind to the process without having to actively think about the process. I have found that my personal guided meditations are helpful for when my anxiety lizard (Eunice is his name and he is a big ol dick) brain is taking over. It has also been useful to me when I am seeking to connect with ancestors. With a little effort, research and time you can make your own. I have done this and found it very useful. It ensures I know that I have a meditation that will work for me when I need it. I don't have to search for the right one. My own voice is familiar and I know it won't be jarring. I can keep a meditation on my phone at all times.
All you need is a recording device. Most of us have a phone we could use for this task. But any recording device will work.
You will want to know what sort of meditation you will be recording. Are you wanting a relaxing one? One for a specific deity? Something else? If it is for a specific deity, what is the purpose? Connection? What sorts of things (imagery) does the deity like?
Will you want background music? Be sure you can play it and record it over your guiding voice. I have written scripts, and then practiced them so that I can do them smoothly when I record. If you are someone uncomfortable with their own voice... is there someone who you could ask to read the script? To record, find a quiet space where you will not be interrupted. Gather your equipment and set it up. Deep breaths and hit record. Take your time, know there is no right way or wrong way. The goal is to have a recording you can use to walk you through a meditation. If you have editing skills use them. I don't so mine are a little rough around the edges, but that is okay too. Those are just some guidelines, suggestions, etc for making your own personal guided meditations. If you want me to write up my scripts, I could do that. I might even consider recording some for you if you wanted. If you want to support the work I do here, there is a pinned post with my tarot reading pricing. Just DM for scheduling etc. If you just want to support the work without a reading... my venmo is @lunarmagicteatime Have a magical day.
