the explanation / the incident
In a first for this blog: while mocking up designs for a work based on a post, I had a few drafts I was messing around with but then the final design that looked the best had absolutely nothing to do with the original post. So, standalone embroidery post it is!
Continued a tradition I have at conventions - I try to make a little embroidery gift for a vendor based on their art or their tabling setup, and give it to them before the convention ends. I took my supplies with me today to SPX and managed to make two simple little patches while chilling in the hallway.

This is one of the more ambitious pieces I've done for a bit, and I did it on an absurd deadline, but my trans dragon back patch is done! The project ended up taking 130 hours of working time to finish, using two strands of cotton floss for both fills and outlines. The base pattern was from my own collection and was originally from 1936.
