My DMC headcanons in no particular order.

There is a read more. I will not be cruel.

Nero has a last name but it is something similar to 'Di Fortuna' as he was an orphan and sometimes orphans are named from where they're found.

This is where Tony Redgrave got his name as well.

Dante and Vergil also have a fortuna based last name but it's constructed differently from Nero's. My logic here is that Sparda carried the name from when the island was a fort.

Since Mallet island was mentioned to be a floating island, and sometimes floats by Fortuna I believe that Sparda made Mallet from a piece of fortuna to trap Mundus on, to keep him from getting a strong foot hold in the human world. There is a chunk missing from Fortuna if you look at a map of it.

I don't think Nero was born on Fortuna. I think he was smuggled back for his safety. The ground is radiating Sparda magic and you can't sense a live descendant of Sparda until you're right on top of them in canon. It should be noted that both Dante and Vergil were tracking Yamato. Nero was invisible to them until he very suddenly appeared.

I think Sparda is dead. I think he used his life force to bind the spell that sealed away Mundus. At that point in the timeline he had already sealed away his power and I doubt there was time to convince Kalina Anne (it would have been her, timeline wise. Lady was a little older than a toddler) for help. With nothing else to use for the spell, he offered one last sacrifice to save his family.

I think ombra and Luce were still on the island. That's where Trish picked them up. Sparda dropped them on death. Which was how we get to the canon of Trish using them.

Since it's still canon that Nell knew Sparda and gave Dante his guns, I think there was a plan in place for her to take both twins in case of an attack. But Vergil was separated and presumed dead and that broke Nell a little bit.

On a happier note I think Sparda had a little mermaid moment and fell in love with the art and music of humanity. It wasn't one person. Yes he had relationships but there's a reason why Eva was specifically his wife. Sparda didn't want some grand warrior. He loved the human capacity to create. This may also be why nall was brought into his inner circle. She was an artist with guns and he lacked the power he once had.

Agnus wanted to marry into the Goldstein family to learn sparda's secrets and bailed when he realized he chose the wrong branch. Nell kept the name in the divorce, leading to two branches, but with Nico's adoption there is one Goldstein line again.

Vergil didn't think Eva treasured Dante more until Arkham suggested it to cause strife. He didn't believe it at first but over time the thought was allowed to rot into what we see in dmc5.

Gilver and Trish are tulpas the first character is can only described as such but Trish has never been confirmed, but Mundus has a hard time creating from other people's thoughts. He doesn't care to filter and lumps together ideas that are good enough. That's how Giver became the worst parts of both Dante and Vergil. But with Trish, she got the memories of Eva yes, but something got lost. Nelo Angelo began thinking of protection and another character that had acted as a scout and messenger to protect him. And her trickster personality and aesthetic slipped in.

There is a direct connection between the dynamic between Alice and Vergil to Urizen and Malphas. Malphas is the messenger and scout that Alice was, and was a witch on top of it. It feels very intentional. Considering that Malphas tried to pull with the sword, what Alice succeeded with the amulet. It felt very much a history repeating.

Vergil was suffering from poisoning from the nightmare weapon in DMC1 and that's what the v demons are made from.

Vergil was dragged by mallet for a while before being flung into Fortuna.

There has to be a reason Nero's sword is named after an Alice in Wonderland character. I have yet to find a satisfactory answer everyone is happy with.

Nero's absorb and adapt and self actualization counts as a mild form of shapeshifting. He gets it from his mother. Whether she was a witch, a demon, an angel or just vaguely supernatural.

Nero's mom being supernatural is irrelevant to the relationship with Vergil. In canon that stuff just happens sometimes. Same case here.

It's canon that the old mercenaries still think of Dante as Tony, I just think they accept he changed his name because of trauma and not because tony was the fake name. To them he is tony. And to be fair tony was the last time he was happiest. Morrison is part of this group, but if he wants to be Dante he's gonna be Dante.

Humanity is obviously a central theme to DMC, but I have yet to see anyone mention how every single character within DMC is connected to each other with loss. I'd love to see a fanfic or even simple headcanons explore two or more characters' bonds over shared loss, especially ones that seem a bit odd.

Please, I beg to see Dante and Nico interact and see bits of Nell in each other. You guys, Nico and Trish bonding over demonology and devil arms, especially angus's research.

Idk how, but bring in Beryl. Have her relate to Lady over the overlaps and differences between their families. Beryl's dad went insane and died after possessing demonic power in an attempt to revive his late wife. While arkham killed his wife to possess demonic power and went insane and died. Not only that, they're both human devil hunters and have cool big ass guns.

(Ik Trish and Lucia dont out right lose family like most of the cast, but they still do experience loss. For Trish, it's her home and everything she knew until she left with Dante. In Deadly Fortunes, it's stated that she dedicates a lot of time to studying devil arms and demonology because she misses the underworld. For Lucia, she doesn't lose anyone, but she does have a loss of self after finding out she's a demon. Yall its a bit insane but parallels between Kyrie, Lucia and Trish with all of them having their worldview shattered. )

Now, my cautious support for the Devil May Cry Netflix Adaptation aside.

I am NOT a fan of what they did to Nell so far.

I’m Genuinely confused on why they changed this. There should definitely be more oomph for an important character like that, weirdest lore change to date.

I expected it and still got a bit whammied. Imma see how they handle it in the actual show but it’s the only genuine take i have to agree with so far.

I will however give props for them making her older/look more her age tho. That’s good shit.
