If you don't like the new DmC and the only argument you have that the story is different and all the characters are different you should really smack yourself in the face.
This game is literally the best of 2013 and the best one in the series besides DMC3
DmC: Devil May Cry: Vergil's Downfall DLC Review.
If you haven't completed DmC and don't wanna any of the story ruined. I suggest you stop reading now.
Contrary to Dan's review of DmC I loved every second of this game so I was very very excited to get a hold of more hack 'n' slash goodness. Vergil's Downfall takes place straight after the events of DmC with Vergil hobbling along after being stabbed by Dante, only to fall down dead upon his mother's grave and enter Hell.
Once he arrives in Hell Vergil is taunted by a hollow version of himself who forces him to undertake some tasks in order to take complete power and win back his heart.
I worried that the combat would just be more of the same with the DLC because I had hoped that a different character would bring new combos and weapons. I was not disappointed with the combos and teleporting around a battlefield slashing with Vergil's trademark Katana was a real highlight for me. Therein lies the issue though, I ONLY got to use the katana. No special unlockable weapons or anything. It gave some cool aspect into the fact that all the unlockable moves were purely HIS moves stemming from his power which shows us how powerful Vergil really is but it would of been cool to see how powerful he was with extra weapons in his arsenal.
The DLC took me around 2 hours to finish the main story which felt a little lacking considering it would appear that this is almost an intro to a sequel for the game.
If you thoroughly enjoyed DmC then I would suggest picking this up if not just for the story. It was an enjoyable little escapade that did its job in making me want even more DmC.
