AGES 4-7
Grace had a hard time making friends in school because she was absent so sporadically due to her CF, so her mom became her best friend.
Kids looked at Grace differently because she couldn’t run around and play like everyone else. During gym class, she was often on the sidelines.
These were the years that really hardened Grace. She was getting used to living with her disease and she was learning just what it meant to be an outcast.
AGES 7-9
When Grace was 7, her and her mother moved to a new neighborhood. She lived next to the Torres family and that’s when her and Adam first met.
She’s never admitted to it, but Grace had a crush on Adam growing up. Once the two got older, though, she managed to let the crush go.
Grace started coming out of her shell around this time. She still struggled getting along with others, but she had a routine going with her CF treatment and she finally had a friend.
AGES 9-11
Grace got really sick when she was 10 years old. She was in the hospital for over two weeks before she was able to go home and recover there for another week.
While Grace was in the hospital and at home for almost a month, she found a home within the walls of Hogwarts. She started reading the books and watching the movies and still loves them to this day (but hates JK Rowling).
Grace got in a fight with kids at school, because they had been bullying Adam. She never told him, though, not wanting him to be mad at her.
AGES 11-13
At 12 years old, Grace met Zoe and the two really got along well. Her silly and more carefree side was able to come out whenever Zoe was around.
After so many years of being left out of sports, Grace’s mom encouraged her to take up a hobby, so when Grace was 12, she began teaching herself to play piano.
It didn’t take long for Grace to fall in love with music and when she was 13, she started teaching herself how to play guitar as well.
AGES 13-15
Once Grace entered high school, she started keeping a journal on her at all times. She wrote down lyrics and music whenever inspiration hit her.
Grace had her first kiss at 13. It wasn’t anything special, but Grace thought it was nice. That was until she learned that the kid had only been dared by his friends to kiss her.
The first time Grace ever played one of her original songs was when she was 15, and she played it for Adam only, knowing he wouldn’t judge her.
AGES 16-18
Between the ages of 16 and 18, Grace and her mother noticed a decline in Grace’s health. She was losing her breath more often and was in need of her inhaler regularly.
Grace, knowing she wanted to go to school for music, dedicated all her time to playing piano and guitar and writing music.
Grace and her mother had one of their biggest fights ever when she was almost 18. Her mother didn’t want Grace moving into a dorm and away from her, scared for Grace’s declining health.
PRESENT
Six months after her 18th birthday, Grace was put on the list for a lung transplant. She’s not even sure she wants the surgery, but her doctor is growing worried over Grace’s declining health.
Because of her CF, Grace is limited in the ways she can party, but from time to time she partakes in enjoying some edibles.
When Grace left for uni, she made a promise to herself that she wasn’t going to hold herself back any longer. If she was going to die, she was going out with no regrets.
Having always been a very artistic person, Grace got herself a job at a tattoo parlor, drawing art for their tattoos.
