Writing is as old as time itself. Long ago, humans needed a way to communicate and describe events, enter hieroglyphics. Today with the advancement of tech and social media, writers are in high demand. There is an audience for literally every topic under the sun. This article is meant to guide and inform all freelance writers of their inalienable rights.    

Don’t Over Think 

The only way to be a better writer is to consistently challenge your brain. You should write every single day, no excuses! Ten-minutes is more than enough time to come up with new ideas for content. You may also want to develop ideas from an external stimulus. Jot down notes about your life, new solutions to daily struggles, or current events. Either way you go, the rough ideas will become structured sentences with continuous work.  

Stay Organized

Organizing your writing projects is an essential task. As a freelancer, you have the liberty to work with many companies. While this may be appealing, it’s rather easy to get lost under different deadlines. Take time to sort out all your pitches and unfinished articles, this will be beneficial while producing content. 

Do Your Research

People long for interesting factoids, gossip, thought-provoking topics, and tips. Feel free to utilize your thesaurus to incorporate uncommon words. That being said, no one wants to read a dry, lackluster article. Your least desired topic deserves the same enthusiasm as your favorite, ensure you always write with vigor.

Remain Professional

Working with others is sometimes daunting and makes you want to quit before you’ve begun. At no time is it acceptable to waver on a promise. Unfulfilled commitments and neglected deadlines are apathetic, making others question your professional integrity. Try your best to remain dedicated to every project you acquire. Remember you are the brand!

Know Your Worth                                                                                       

Many will try and convince you to write for them in exchange for views or follows. Thus gearing you to work hard while they take full advantage of your talents. The new partnership should not distract you from paid endeavors or limit your professional mobility. If you decide to commence, ensure the collaboration is mutually beneficial. Working pro bono can be detrimental, depending on your personal goals and aspirations. Simply put, never work for free it may backfire.  

 Writing is an art form that requires hard work and dedication.
