We learned that Machu Pichu was essentially a spiritual retreat for the Incas. There are tons of design elements, incorporating their telltale skillful masonry, that are oriented with the motion of the sun. Yesterday was a busy day. After Moray we hit the salt mine at Maras. Here they collect water from an underground spring, channel it into shallow pools, and wait until the water evaporates.
