Our Time Machine: Ancient DNA
DNA; It has moved beyond the esoteric science to the center of everyday conversations such as identity, culture and politics. In addition, history is reshaped with ancient DNAs (aDNAs) from the skeletons found in archaeological sites.
With each ancient genetic sequence, researchers can obtain new information about how people live and interact with each other in the ancient world. In some cases, these discoveries can even help in refuting past theories or solving age-old debates.
Ancient DNAs not only change the questions asked, but also change the way researchers work. Geneticists; he has been focusing on issues that archaeologists, anthropologists and linguists have been working on for years. But there is a topic where geneticists are different: they are interested in people rather than what people leave behind.
Skeletons are directly related to individuals living in the past. Anthropologists have studied bones and teeth for a long time and sought clues about the origins of human life. Now, geneticists can study these DNAs and provide a new insight.
These investigations were previously limited to skeletons in cold regions where DNA molecules were more likely to be protected. However, in the so-called petros, it was discovered that rich skeleton of aDNA (Ancient DNA) was found even in skeletons not adequately protected in warm climates. This finding led to a tremendous increase in the speed and scale of aDNA studies. In 2018, archaeological skeletons in museums around the world became the center of attention.
The results from the first aDNA studies provided more efficient integration of archaeological and genetic data. In this way, more detailed information about small-scale cultural and population changes could be reached.
Together with these studies, cooperation in science has come a long way. aDNA research
