This is what creating antagonists for my D&D game looks like.

Most of the time, I come up with a character concept first, then return to it every few days, refining it and finding more interesting ideas.

These are my first two mini-bosses: Grog (also known as the Weeping Raven) and Nira. Nira is actually a sweet guy — he just ended up among the antagonists by accident 😅

ALSO adding to the Mystra is a bitch counter, this current iteration of Mystra was a mortal woman who ascended to godhood, she's not even the same Mystra that cast out Karsus.

Nah but fr tho! But I guess her ever present paranoia to hang onto her power and not get killed AGAIN (seriously maybe don’t leave one person to embody all of magic ffs the overgod SOB that is Ao never fucking learns jfc—or WOTC for that matter). Not that it does her any favors anyway.

Lord don’t even get me started on my Mystra beef.

Oh the theses I could right on how much I despise her.

On the one hand yeah I get it sweetie everyone and their mother is trying to kill you and we’re technically on like Mystra 3.5 (current Mystra is—I believe???—a fusion of the first 3 with the one before having been a mortal woman named Midnight following the whole Spell Plague and Kelemvor and Cyrillic shit).

Also for those who don’t know there’s an ancient dracolich in Faerun known as the Creeping Death (aka Daurgothoth) that’s also a archmage wizard that is basically a ticking time bomb of death and destruction that Mystra refuses to let anyone fuck with.

Ma’am literally said “let him cook” all bc she wants to see what her special little boy can make. But thing is the older a dragon is the stronger they get—and the more magic a wizard is the stronger they get. And on top of being a literal dracolich of all things, Mystra is basically letting this cook all for the sake of magic “growing” and “evolving” bc she wants to play fuck around and find out (shocking I know).

Good luck with that ticking inevitable time bomb you allowed her to make, Ao

Meaning the day this fucker is done with his magical experiments and shit and exhausts the limits of what magic he can learn and make, Faerun is fucked. And I do NOT say that lightly.

There’s a lot more that I haven’t even gotten into about what this thing can do, but it will basically use its powers to bright about the rise of dragons again and not even the (high) elves in all their magical war crime glory will be able to do anything about them like they did with them before once upon a time.

So if you don’t hate her for what she’s done to Gale and those before him, do know she’ll gladly pull a magical equivalent of an Oppenheimer for pure shits and giggles bc curiosity and all that jazz. Daurgothoth is a threat I don’t think even a Tarasque could properly compete with, and those are generally seen as full on world destroyers in dnd ffs.
