#dnd bahamut

I have a problem with my Dark Urge character in Baldur's Gate 3. He's an Oath Of Devotion Paladin and it makes sense that a Paladin would have a patron deity. But I can't decide what his deity should be.

I've narrowed it down to two choices: Bahamut, or Selune.

Making him a Paladin of Selune would provide more options for story and character interactions, especially with Shadowheart. But Tavarius is a dragonborn, and to me it makes sense that a dragonborn Paladin would pledge themselves to a dragon deity.

And since Tiamat doesn't seem like the sort of deity to have Paladins swear an Oath Of Devotion, that only leaves Bahamut. But being a Paladin of Bahamut doesn't offer as many chances for unique dialouge. So I don't know who to go with.

Therapy session about to happen in my dnd group because I, the lawful good paladin of Bahamut attacked a group of Tiamat cultists. Oh, did I mention there was a green dragon hovering above us? 

Yeah, the party’s uh suffice to say mad at my girl.

Random D&D Campaign Premise idea

All of the cults of Tiamat in the world are on the fritz. They're sacrificing people en-masse, doing all sorts of atrocities, trying to either appease or murder every damn dragon in their viscinity. The plane is in chaos. Everyone is trying to figure out, what sort of plan Tiamat has, what the hell is she doing now to cause such blatant disruption.

Turns out the answer is simple. She finally SUCCEEDED in one of her attempts to escape Avernus. Except she then proceeded to completely abandon all of her cults, now that their job was done. They've been abandoned, their powers rapidly fading, and they are scrambling to figure out why and how to get said power back.

Tiamat is evil, but above all else she is selfishness incarnate. And for as much as she hates Bahamut, she'd rather have freedom than vengeance. So she is currently bunked up somewhere in the middle of nowhere, thinking on what the hell she's even going to do now, and everyone except maybe Bahamut himself is none the wiser.

Bonus points: In the process of breaking through whatever barrier held her in Avernus, Tiamat managed to fling herself into phlogiston, and splatter faces-first into the Eberron celestial sphere.

To this day, neither she nor the clan of anarcho-capitalist halflings she landed next to knows who adopted whom.
