Nothing left, the fall of a choosen, left to rot within corpses. Brought down not by an enemy, but by someone who fought at her side, followed her orders, looked up to her. Never suspecting that envy was her true enemy - an ambush the weapon.

Yet the absolute annihilation of her being was torture, the destruction of all the symbols on her skin, the theft of her wealth from her pockets, and the erasure of her memories. What remained was a naked shell without a mind.

These images are all that's left in her mind. Yet they hold no meaning; no emotions are attached to them. Like a dream that vanishes a few seconds after waking.

Oona! With this word she awoke.

A word that was more familiar to her than her surroundings. It was lodged in her throat, as if she had screamed it. As if she had wanted to hold onto it, but now it had lost its meaning.

"Am I just born? Though it's strange that I already know words, even if I don't know where I learned them."

Curiosity drove her more than her survival instinct did. Fire, smoke, and strange noise surrounded her. And with every passing minute she became aware that this had to be real - not a dream. But how was she even supposed to know what a dream actually was? And what was real life then? And if this was real life, had everything before been a dream?

Everything she remembers depicts an image of blood, blades, bones and Oona. 

To get further answers, she has to keep going.

The first steps were as if on trembling ground, the walls made of pulsing flesh.

To get a feel for what it's actually like to have amnesia, I watched some videos and listened to some podcasts. Most report that they thought they had just been born, and were bewildered to find themselves already fully grown and even to already know words. The first question is often where their mother is, though some didn't even recognize her face. 

Most cases of amnesia don't last longer than hours or days; only in the fewest cases does the memory stay gone forever. Old pictures feel as though they'd been mixed up or swapped with another person who looked like them. When these people are confronted with old friends and hobbies, they feel no connection to them anymore. Most of the time, they end up starting a completely different life. I find this topic incredibly fascinating.
