Hey, Sides! I wanna check the edition before I start doing any further guesswork, so can I run that by you real quick? It's definitely not second edition and earlier (they were very different from D&D as currently known) or 4th ed (you mentioned spell slots, 4th did away with the Vancian system entirely). (I'm ignoring 5th mostly out of convenience, as I don't know much about it.) That leaves 3, 3.5, and Pathfinder. 3 and 3.5 are long out of print, thus it's likely Pathfinder. What do you think?
Sides: “You mean what version are we in? The fifth. It’s more simplified than pathfinder. The mechanics are pretty different.”
You come across a ever weeping butterfly fairy trapped in glass and metal. If you free the fairy and dry her eyes, she will either gift you or trick you. The gift will be +1 Dexterity and the ability to become invisible until you attack. The trick will leave you blind till you leave the forest. Will you free the fairy and roll for gift or trick?
Sides: “You bet I will.” =D
Sunny: “Sideswipe...”
Sides: “What?”
Sunny: “So far, since all of this has started, you’ve either had extremely good luck. Or extremely poor luck. There has been no in between. It’s been less of a dice roll and more of a coin flip.”
*seriously. One or twenties without fail*
Sides: “Well. I’m still gonna flip that coin.” >D
