The many faces of an unknown hero
OOOOOOkay... these last days, as no other days ever, I've been remembering old characters that were storaged in my head as my plans for "Heirs of Dobalia" were and are being developed. The nostalgia invaded me, and I felt like I should share them with you so you know a bit about what's on this nut's head.
One thing to know, the way you see them, is the most accurate thing of what I could draw by the time I shaped them in a piece of paper. So, in few words, I also let the errors that they could have by then.
Maybe, MAAAAAYBE, I'll be adding more evolutions of other characters another day. Maybe. This one took a whooole while.
WARNING: very long and pretty repetitive descriptions ahead. Staying or leaving, is up to you. Also, there may be grammar errors, so warned be ye, dear visitors.

Few I remember about Max, just this:
-he was the leader of the gang, which was composed of -more or less- 15 members.
-his last name was so, SO silly for him to be called with, that he got in a rampage state every time a foe mocked him by calling him his entire name.
-his friends knew this fact pretty well, so they simply called him Max.
what can I say? I've just started this big cake, I had no idea what the future would come up with. I wanted a dynamic character, and what is more dynamic than spiky hair? I was pretty in agreement with him by then.
I missed this boy. He's not much different to my idea of hero, but... uuh... yeah, that. The very known kind of protagonist.
Oh, and the last name, sounds sillier and sillier to me every time I remember it, so I'll never, EVER, reveal it. It dies with me.
It's hard times for the gang. As they run out of resources, more and more powerful enemies appear. But then, a powerful young warrior from another place comes to the rescue.
The dark forces are defeated. Blas returns to his home, meeting with his old pals again. This, if it would be an anime or manga, would lead into another universe of arcs, where new adventures are related.
I don't remember so much... I guess that if I wanted a more powerful hero, he needed to be even more dynamic. By that time, I was caught by Xiaolin Showdown, and one thing that I loved, was the Two-Ton Tunic in Mala Mala Jong, so, after several attempts of creating something with similar design, the jacket ended like what you see, so I stuck to it.
Blas doesn't sound to me like a common name, but I was enormously proud of him, maybe for the "innovation" that he brought to my ideas for Dobalia, and for how many things happened to his design until I found the appropiate one.

And here starts the Marx wave. But he is not special for being the first Marx, but what he actually is and how he came up to my mind.
During secondary school, we learned about clonation and genetic (not so much and a big deal, just basic concepts). I liked so much the topic that I decided to put it in the story. How? Like this, "BLAS. kill him against an invincible, unstoppable and immortal Darnius. clone him from a hair and make him genetically stronger. and give him a new name". Yes, drastic and kinda sick innovation, but I felt like I needed something unexpected,.
Why "Marx"? I don't remember. Only that by that time, I was looking for a short way to be called instead the long and formal-like "Marcelo" (my real name). "Marce" didn't sound well for me either, so I shortened it a bit more into "Marx", and I stuck to it ever since.
mmm... if I remember well, I started to watch Dragon Ball Z after several years of ignoring it, and the nostalgia was so explosive that motivated me to adapt my story with some of DBZ elements, like energy attacks, an inner fuel for them, super punchy battles and all.
even if this dude was closer to me than any other character I've created, he and his later stories didn't get so much development as the rest.

What do we have here, a Sonic fan thingy? Yeah.
For the last year of secondary school, I got interest on webcomics, sprites, and found about the Sonic comics published by Archie. I liked so much that I felt inspired to create my own webcomic with Sonic sprites, my own characters and all. This first sprite comic, called "La Cruzada" (or The Crusade) helped me a lot to stablish my characters, their relations with each other and much of everything else. But due to I lost my work after like two or three reboots in my computer, I decided to stop where I left and send it into oblivion.
After some time later, I took spirit and started a whole new series with him and my other characters used in La Cruzada, now called "SPRITED: Heroes of Dobalia", which adventures (that you can follow here) are still based on the Dobalia universe that I'm still planning, AND, at the same time, it helped me to stablish the master title for the whole work, that is "Heirs of Dobalia".
I didn't know so much about sprites but recoloring and advantages of trasparency, so I simply took some hedgehog ears, created a fringe, put them all on a Knuckles sheet and recolored it. So, even if it's based on an echidna, he's still a hedgehog.
needs to have less time on screen and let it for the rest of the team.

Okay, WHAT happened here?
Schoool's over, took a gap year to dedicate my time to make a webcomic for people. I needed characters, where to take them from? What about from the brand new characters we invented for the Dobalia universe? Yeah, that may work, since I've developed them enough to put them on action. But let's don't include powers, Dobalia stuff and all that. Just a regular comic.
Attempting to have human sprites for the Dobalia main protagonists, I took a Legendary Gohan sprite, edited, recolored and added a bang on the forehead. I liked it, so I drew him to see how would he look like, and after some changes and fixes, it eneded like that.
Too silly for a comic, needs a touching-up.

Enough of that useless and nothing attractive aspect, give the boy a haircut and new clothes. ... Yeah, that's better and should work.
I had enough of that crappy hairstyle that scares readers instead of motivating them to stay and read. Mmmm... I like the one of Marx the hedgie... yeah, give him that, and a more serious palette of colors on his clothes.
So far, he's being a good boy.
Universe: Heirs of Dobalia
the weird fringe could still work as an unique icon, but this story is suppossed to be more serious, so no, scratch it. Give him a more fabulous bang. ... aaahh... that's what I'm talking about! Let the dark blue shit stay and change the pants for something with more fashion, AND TAKE THOSE HEDGIE SHOES OFF ONCE AND FOR ALL!
looks good and promising, yeah, but it's because I'm the author. If the story ever comes out to light, let's hope readers agree.
