Hey! Sorry for the late answer but I just saw your message. Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev used to be a couple. After they broke up, Ian started to date Nikki Reed who is one of Nina’s friends. I want to clarify something, Ian and Nina dated in 2010 and broke up in 2013. Ian and Nikki went official in 2014. This led to a drama in the fandom that majority said that Nikki shouldn’t have dated her friend’s ex and Ian shouldn’t have dated her ex’s friend. In 2015, Nina left TVD which drove fandom crazy. They thought Nina left the show because of Ian and Nikki, since Ian and Nikki got engaged and married in 2015. Nina didn’t attend their wedding even though she was reported to be invited. In 2017, Nina returned to TVD and she became friendly with both Ian and Nikki. They are friends now.
