Drink Me. (Mary)
"You know, Mac, just because we haven't actually seen each other for 5 months doesn't mean you've gotten better at drinking than me." Doc grinned and Mary, egging her on, as he took another shot of the vodka that she had so nicely bought.
"No, but I have gotten better at shagging." Mary didn't let Doc phase her, she knew him far better then other people did, and she knew where to press his buttons.
"Right, and who have you been practicing with?" Doc tried to keep his voice even and light, but he knew that the jealous part of him would always hate any bloke that wasn't him that was putting his cock anywhere near Mary. It was something that he wished had distinguished, but all of his valiant efforts had failed. He took another shot.
"A couple people here and there, they were pretty good themselves. I even realized just how flexible I was." Now it was Mary with a large smirk on her face, pushing Doc to the breaking point, keeping him at a distance, because if she brought him close enough in she was worried that it would be her breaking. It had been her decision in the first place to go over to his place and drink, she invited herself, and he agreed. But now, now she was regretting it. Now all she could see or taste was not what was in front of her, but what was in the past. The memories, the hugs, the kisses. She took two shots.
"Why are you doing this to me, Mac?" And just as quickly as they began joking, a pained expression took hold on Doc's face. He knew saying yes to this had been a bad idea. Trying to be friends? How could they ever just be friends. Anytime he looked at her he melted into a lump of clay, ready and willing to be molded to however she might like. He took a shot.
Instead of answering, Mary stood up shakily, trying to keep the ground in her vision, and trying to escape, run, get away from the questions that she refused to answer because she knew the answer, and it was a hard one for her to admit. She didn't quite make it to the front door however, when Doc lunged at her, grabbing her while falling, and ending up with her on top of him, and him with a bruised up back. They both laid there and panted, not because of any amount of work that had just been done, but because they were drunk, and the tension that surrounded them was palpable.
Mary spoke, and stared straight into Doc's brown eyes. "I love you," she whispered, as if she had just declared him victorious.
Doc looked right back up at her, and kissed her straight on the mouth, immediately tasting the alcohol that they both had been consuming. But this, this made him more drunk than any sort of whiskey or vodka ever could.
"What are you doing?" Mary ripped her lips from his, looking shocked. "This should be horrible. We, we should have moved on by now, we should be happy with other people, and away from the pain, I shouldn't, I shouldn't still love you like I do--I"
Doc cut her off, as he usually did, and kissed her once more, this time more forcefully, trying to will her to understand that they shouldn't have to do anything. Mary wouldn't have it however, and she moved her self off of him, and next to the quarter full bottle of vodka. Tears started to freely flow down her face. "We can't, we can't do this, Doc, this is too much, I don't want to get hurt again, I don't want to hurt you again, we need, I need--" It was if her entire body had started to shake, and she had closed in on herself. Doc crawled towards her, ignoring the pain in his back.
"Whenever I kiss you, I feel like I know who I am, like the world is suddenly crystal clear. How am I supposed to get rid of that feeling and hope that someone else will be able to produce it as well. Don't you feel the same thing? You have to feel it, it, it can't just be me--" They both raised their heads and stared at one another. They were both cruelly still in love, and still heart broken, and yet they would both acknowledge that there was something there that had yet to be explored.
Doc was about to get up once more, when suddenly Mary jumped him, the vodka spilling out of the bottle and onto the floor, but more importantly her lips were on his, and she was whispering between every single one.
"You should've bought vodka sooner."
"Shut up, arse."
AU Docary in High School
The bell had rung its same monotone ring, and all of the cheer that was previously in the crowded hallways diminished. The classes filled up, and, per usual, the last one in was Doc. He strolled in, sat down, and put a large grin on his handsome face. Everyone around him involuntarily turned towards his direction, curious as to what he had just done, as that sort of grin only meant trouble and not the joy of sitting in a classroom at 8 in the morning.
He looked around, winked at a few women, and turned to the front, listening as intently as he could, although not to the teacher, but for a very special and distin—The sound he was looking for arrived in a very high pitched scream. There were definite tints of anger in there, especially when the scream transformed into Doc’s very name.
Doc looked around, and tapped his foot on the tile floor. He was waiting for the door to burst open, and he was waiting to be reprimanded by the only person he might even listen to.
“CARADOC DEARBORN. WHY IN GOD’S GREEN EARTH IS MY HAIR BLUE.”
That was the very soothing voice of Mary. See, her and Doc had been dating for a few weeks, actually, it was some of the biggest bit of gossip that the school had gotten ahold of for a while. They, however, were still a bit hush hush about it all, so, they couldn’t very well act cordially towards each other. At least, that was Doc’s rational for putting blue hair dye in Mary’s shampoo. He knew she had gym in the morning, and knew even better that she would absolutely hate walking around with sweaty hair.
He was smart. But Mary was angry.
The door to his class flew open, and there stood a very blue, in the hair, and in the face, Mary MacDonald.
“You look good, Mac. A bit blue, but nothing a good rub down won’t fix.” He threw a smile in her direction, but it was soon wiped off of his face as she stormed closer. Doc wasn’t a complete moron. He knew Mary could pack a punch.
Everyone else in the room knew it too. Especially a very frightened teacher, who was stuck between going to get help, and watching the scene unfold herself. It was mesmerizing, Mary and Doc, that is. It was like they were electric and everyone else had just been pulled in to their current. They were hyper aware of the loud couple. The couple on the other hand completely forgot anyone else existed. Especially when Mary inched her way closer, steam practically billowing out of her ears.
“Caradick, explain to me why my normally blonde hair is now this atrocious blue color.”
“Well, someone must have changed out your shampoo. You should really look into that.”
“I am looking into that.”
“Seems to me that you’re just checking me out.”
“I’m good at multi-tasking.”
Doc rose from his seat, and stood chest to chest with Mary. Daring her to do something about it all. To make a move. To hit him. To do something. And finally, after what seemed like ages for everyone in the room, she did.
She dug her heel into Doc’s foot, grabbed his crouching form, and planted a sloppy kiss on his shocked lips. Doc himself was in a state between complete pain, and complete happiness. As was how they spent most of their relationship. The class however was mostly in complete shock. He had just been assaulted, and then kissed, and no one really knew what to say, especially when the pair walked out, hand in hand. One limping, one with flowing blue locks.
The monotone bell rang again.
Apparently moving in with someone was a bit like falling in love. You don’t know it’s happening until you wake up one day and you have clothes in a drawer, and your favorite kind of coffee in the cupboards.
