Dan frowns, looking down at the man who’s perched at the foot of
his bed, propping himself up on his elbow to turn the bedside lamp on.
Herbert is disheveled to say the least paper white skin, dark pockets
under his eyes, the lacerations on his hands more prominent. Something
pangs in his rib cage, and he throws the duvet back, patting the spot
next to him.
“We got th’ day off.” His voice is still slurred from being woken so suddenly.
“Jus’ come here, you’ll be okay.”
sunken eyes seemed to soften at the suggestion.
glasses were already dismissed on the edge of
the bed, only to tumble back to the hardwood
floor. the lack of sleep only made him more
careless, and he had reached a wall that wouldn’t
let him go on anymore. no matter how much
reagent pumped through stretching veins, he
couldn’t hold himself up any longer in his current
state. west crawled to the open spot only to
collapse in complete exhaustion, brought on by
not only his lack of sleep but for complete devotion
to his work and none to his overall health. with a
heavy sigh filled with pain and fear, he sunk into
the mattress while his hand gripped tight onto the
blanket to pull it up to his chin.
