[05:42] II: *These past few weeks had been the best of his life. Albeit the whole town wide argument over how to deal with the rogue cholerbear sauntering into the main square a few times each perigee was a bit troublesome. Thinking about the silly debate and meeting made Kasvik laugh even now, as he sat on the grass hill over looking the grouped hives and store fronts. Who was it who suggested they build better walls? He was fairly certain that might have been the chief of police, Karkat Vantas. They already had walls designed to keep out the ravenous day walkers, what was the point in designing a whole new public works project to just duplicate something that already existed? Then again, Kasvik wasn't interested in the other favored opinion of hunting the beast down. But someone had to make a decision that would satisfy the people. Politics. . . he was glad he wasn't part of them.
Leave the decisions to the others, like Eridan Ampora, and Aranea Serket. Things were peaceful under the democracy held here. Everyone had their words heard. There was no fighting. No killing. Troll like Kasvik, his castemates, and even those like the Nitrams were free of persecution. An ideal utopia in which all the members of this town coexisted and strived to help the community, rather then just their selves.
Kasvik smiled as the dual moons lit up Umbral Ultimate City. From this vantage point he could see the tiny specs of the towns people going about their routine, interacting, making it a real spectator's sport on such a fine night. Kas leaned over and nudged his shoulder against his friend Mikkev's. “Hey so do you guys think that miss Megido's festival is going to be good, or a bust?” The psionic wielder just turned to smile at him and shrugged, and when Kasvik turned to the troll at his other side, his beloved, she just replied with a grin and nuzzled against his arm again. Aradia was the party planner of the council board. She was putting into works a large event to celebrate the passing of souls and seasons. Her events were always a hit or miss, but entertaining in a way to see unfold. As Kasvik returned his attention to gaze down the hill again, he could see his mother making her way to their meeting spot as well. Soon they would all be enjoying the night together. And what a night it was. Cool breeze, bright moons, the smell of thick rolling grass, and woodsmoke. Just perfect. Kasvik let out a deep sigh and leaned back towards the grass. He loved his existence here, and just a civilian, with family and friends, and hardly a care in the world. It was peaceful, it was blissful, is was---
. . . .wet. The grass was wet beneath him but it hadn't rained in weeks. Kasvik frowned and turned to look down at his hand. What he saw at first looked like dark mud. But thinner. Thick but still smooth and without grains of silt. Something in his chest went cold, and slowly Kasvik lifted his hand higher to breathe in whatever scent was coming off this substance warming his fingers.
The second it hit his nose, Kasvik gagged. It was blood. A mixture of different hues spilled onto the hill side to combine into one thick color. His eyes widened in shocked horror and he quickly looked back up to his comrades to give a quite blunt “What the fu-” but the words stopped before he even finished the statement. They were gone. All of them. The entire town.
No. . .not gone. But he was alone. Kasvik's body began trembling as he stared at a burning city with dozens of bodies littering the grass. Expressions of twisted pain and agony forever etched onto the lifeless faces before him. All bleeding. All dead. All gone.
Kasvik stood abruptly, stumbling over the broken bodies of his family which were laid before him in a gory mess. They all leaked from puncture wounds, a rainbow of color seeping into the ground and flooding the grass. The smell of death so strong and putrid it made him retch and his eyes water with pink tears. The moment he had made it to his feet his legs quivered and brought him to his knees again, while vomit burned his throat and his nose leaked from the acrid smoke drifting up from their burning homes. Death was everywhere, the sky was red and hot as if the sun was about to drift upwards and incinerate them all. And there. . .there was laughing. It echoed from everywhere at once. It was deafening and Kasvik covered his ears but it still felt as though his head was about to explode, to crumble under the gleeful tremor of the voice.
Then it came from right behind him. And he dared to turn and look over his shoulder at the one survivor besides himself.
His body went cold. It was Her. The Empress. She wasn't dead. She was alive and standing there trident in hand and bathed in the gore of his people. Of his family. Kasvik couldn't breathe, he couldn't move. Not even when she lifted her golden weapon and drove it into his back and straight through his chest--
His eyes snapped open and bright, hot, white light burned his pupils. He couldn't see, not at first. He still couldn't move either. His body was stiff. Some limbs wouldn't move. Sounds were muffled, but coming back fast. He could hear beeping, matching in time to his elevated pulse. He could hear himself struggling with the oxygen mask around his face as he ripped it off and struggled to take deep, even, breaths. Oh. Oh breathing real air felt good. It felt sore but fresh and unstale.
Kasvik squinted against the light, and the brightness was slowly fading. From what he could make out, this was certainly a medical facility. Wires, machines, tubes were attached to him. He lulled his head to the left and saw his forearm encased in plaster cast. He looked down and saw the same was true for his right leg. To the right was IV's hooked into his arm. Where was he? What the fuck had just happened???*
[06:00] DP: *it had been weeks since the attack now, and every moment of every day unfortunately weighed heavily on her mind. she had to document things like... how long the one called signless had been incapacitated. her heart was heavy knowing how long he was out while also knowing that she may /never/ know when he might wake up, such was the nature of a coma. worse yet, telling the people who care about hi
[06:00] DP: m such a thing... needless to say, this job had been more difficult than it had been in a long while. still, she was thankful she wasn't entirely steeled to it, and that she could still hope for him.*
[06:00] DP: *it appeared to pay off, in fact, though it was something of a mixed blessing, when she heard activity in his room from where she wandered in the hall. with a startled gasp, she ran inside to see what was the fuss, only to witness him struggling for a moment before ripping away his mask. luckily, his confused tantrum seemed to pass quickly enough and with a small, relieved sigh, she scurried to h
[06:00] DP: is side to fuss over him and check his vital signs. it looked like he was calming down, but she had to make sure.*
[06:01] DP: mister vantas, please try to relax.
[06:07] II: *If Kasvik had tried really hard to focus on it, he might have remembered Dr. Paint more clearly. But Signless was still decently confused. He was less shocked, and less panicked, sure. But still he had no idea what was going on.* Th-The others. . . *He sputtered. His mouth felt numb like it wasn't used to talking. Which was weird he was talking not too long ago.* It was all on fire. Th-The buildi
[06:07] II: ngs, th-the fields, everything.
[06:08] II: Wha-. . .Where am I? Where a-are they??
[06:13] DP: um... *oh boy, that didn't sound good. helping coma patients understand their situations was always a difficult task... better get her anesthetics ready just in case!* you were having a bad dream, sir. everyone is okay! and so are you.
[06:16] II: *He looked at her like she was crazy. Or maybe he was squinting because this room was still pretty bright.* It wasn't. . .i-its not a dream. . .
[06:20] DP: well... when you were last awake, some pretty terrible things did happen... it must have made you dream unpleasant things. *shifts a little*
[06:20] DP: i know this must be very confusing for you, but i'll answer any questions you have.
[06:25] II: I-It wasn't. . . *It wasn't unplesant though. It was wonderful aside from the disturbing end scene. But terrible things happened? Was it the bear? No wait. . .The more he though about it the more Signless began to remember. It was slow going but it was coming back.* The. . .the invasion right? Of the ship? Thats what happened? Thats the- *He paused for a moment and frowned before flicking his tong

[06:32] DP: *was he?? she had to remember... there was just so much to remember, but she eventfully nods, more cheerful sounding than she intended* yes! oh. to all of that, i mean.
[06:34] II: *He tries remembering more bits of the fight as he counts how many teeth he lost. So far its a total of three.* And. . .and she was hurt!! My beloved!! *That sudden realization brings a whole NEW wave of panic.* Is she alright!??
[06:34] II: My fellow ambassador where is she???
[06:39] DP: *DON'T MAKE HER STICK YOU WITH THIS NEEDLE TO CALM YOU, SIR. she might be spending too much time with slick. she cannot solve all her problems by stabbing them.* she's okay!! i promise, she's fine, and the rest of your friends are too.
[06:43] II: *Okay, so he is slightly more at ease to hear that. Not completely calm but hey, he's not going to shout anymore. Right now anyways.* Thank the gods and all above. . . *He sighed deeply and relaxed back against the pillows again. If he had been dreaming, why was he so tired from just sitting up? It was like his body wasn't used to this type of exersion.....* How long have I been, uh, dreaming?
[06:59] DP: *she cleared her throat, trying to approach this one as lightly as possible* well... it's been a while. a few weeks.
[07:04] II: Weeks?? *Okay well that was another unpleasant surprise. And it would make sense as to why it felt like he couldn't move very well, with all his stiff joints.* How many weeks? It couldn't have been weeks.
[07:05] II: Maybe ONE week pushing it?? But several weeks in a row? No.
[07:07] DP: *shakes her head* i'm afraid that... today marks three weeks since attack.
[07:07] DP: :(
[07:18] II: *Three whole weeks. He just lets that sink in for a moment.* . . . . .Damn. *Okay well now he feels just a strange combination of tired and yet paranoidly awake.*
[07:19] II: *After a bit of silence he looks at his broken arm and leg again.* I don't suppose I can get out of this bed anytime soon? *Hes actually is really hoping he can, even though he just woke up from a three week coma. He doesnt want to be laying down for a moment more.*
[07:52] DP: well, that is the silver lining here! you're almost done recovering from your injuries! the casts should be able to come off in a couple days. though... you'll have to get used to walking again. that'll take some more time. *those poor deteriorating muscles*
[07:54] II: Oh. . . *Sounds like a blast. Except not. Comas are difficult.* Would you, uh, sorry, possibly mind if I just. . .have some time to myself. There are some people I should try contacting. *And he is already searching through his sylladex for his portable com device.*
[08:13] DP: *she nods, giving him a small smile* of course! if you need anything, just hit the call button and we'll send someone in. *gestures to the button before she starts to head out, giving him one more concerned look over her shoulder*
[08:14] II: *He thanks her but when she looks back he is already typing away at his hand held com device. None of his family is online, so his expression as she leaves is beyond stressed and worried. But thank you Dr. Paint. You would probably be his favorite doctor if he had been to many others.*
