Just discovered Netflix’s Our Planet series is currently on YouTube and I have been devouring it. For anyone else sorely missing when Discovery used to be The David Attenborough Nature Documentaries Channel, enjoy.
Finally had the opportunity to watch this documentary (full disclosure: purchased it from Contri Code because Vimeo’s payment gateway just would not load properly for me). Very much recommended in that it highlights the positives of digital distribution while acting as a reminder that physical media isn’t just about us old timers and nostalgia.
I really wish they could have gotten into things like PT being removed from the PlayStation Store altogether, or how it is literally impossible for me to replay the same version of FFXV that I first played, but having the disk itself does allow me to backtrack to the earliest version. ...Just not the day 1 update that I fell in love with. There’s no way to reach that version again. Little bit of anger there, S-E. Little bit.
Still, altogether it’s a good if slightly painful look at independent game stores and the folks who run them, with of course a touch of “this belongs in a museum!” because Frank Cifaldi, the Indiana Jones of games media, is involved.

Documentary recommendation: A Stitch In Time
A series by Amber Butchart, a fashion historian, in which she explores the significance of garments from various works of art, and works with a historical tailor to recreate those garments. My personal favourite episode is the one featuring the Arnolfini Portrait.
The series is currently being repeated on BBC Four, and the episodes are available on iPlayer.
