Here’s my first drabble in a while, a reply to @allvalley100’s Chemistry prompt!
Chozen approaches Daniel tentatively after his impromptu lesson on Master Kim Sun-Yung’s unorthodox technique; the memory of Daniel on the ground under him just minutes ago stirs something primal in his gut, but he cannot let his unseemly desire push Daniel away, he cannot stand the idea of losing Daniel-san’s trust now—
Daniel won’t stand for the shame in Chozen’s eyes.
Daniel rubs the back of his neck and whispers, his eyes alight with something unspoken as he moves close enough for lips to touch, “I trust your hands around my neck, Chozen.”
Started Trigun Stampede today(finally!). And now the TS brainrot starts....I watched the original anime way back when and loved it but always wanted a reboot and finally got my wish. My thoughts so far:
The visual animation is stunning. Still don't like the character animation, it's just weird to me? But overall very beautiful animation
Story line is moving fast and we start off with knowing about Knives and that he's the Bad Guy, which is cool
Wolfwood. That's all.
Really good antagonists. I'm excited to see more and what atrocities they commit 😁
Roberto. I loved Millie but Roberto is just great
I love how Vash is even MORE compassionate in Stampede. He was already so kind and loving in the original but in TS he doesn't seem to want to even injure anyone and will check on his opponents immediately if they do get hit
Overall, I love it and both look forward to and dread what's coming because I know....and I wish I didn't. So go watch it!!
omg I want to hear about Daniel and Chozen in the vampire slayer au!!!
Okay so this is actually the world’s most belated birthday gift for a mutual and friend of mine, and I really do need to finish it soon!
It’s set in an AU where Chozen and Daniel are vampire slayers training under Mr. Miyagi’s tutelage, and there are vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. and there are good and bad of every group.
Warlock John Kreese has broken with his coven and allied himself with vampire Terry Silver, and they’re working together to create a Walpurgisnacht that’ll engulf the Valley in darkness.
Featuring the Cobras as werewolves, Amanda, Rosa and Carmen as witches who are reclaiming their coven from the warlock Kreese, Kumiko and Shannon in a dance troupe that has been stolen away for the Walpurgisnacht and working together with Katsuo (Kumiko’s boyfriend) to survive, Terry’s lustful fascination with Daniel, and a daring rescue that leads to a long-overdue love confession, I am so excited to get this done!
Now without further adieu, the snippet!
“Let me guess, you’re gonna keep me chained here so I can’t stop anything you have planned,” Daniel said, “You do realize I’m not alone in not wanting this stupid Walpurgisnacht to happen, right? You’ve split a coven in half, you have the families of the entire dance troupe you’ve kidnapped to feed your guests angry at you, and don’t even get me started on the werewolf pack you’ve pissed off–”
“Danny, Danny, Danny… as tempting as the thought is, of keeping you chained to my bed and claiming you now in every way we know,” Terry whispered, running his hand through Daniel’s hair and letting it slip downward to Daniel’s neck, “I want you present at the celebration. A grand alliance of witches and vampires that’ll bring the Valley to its knees, and you’ll be there to witness the only conclusion of every lesson your teacher ever tried to instill in you, and you’ll be mine, Danny boy. Mine. Forever.”
“Now get dressed, quickly, unless I decide I want a pre-celebration snack in the other room,” Terry said, unchaining Daniel and tossing him some clothes. Daniel gulped and immediately complied.
@allvalley100 here’s my (hopefully first of a few) response to the Spooky Monsters prompt.
Rating: T
Anthony had wanted to watch The Babadook for months, and Daniel had realized… oh. It’s been months since they’d spent any quality time together.
So there they were, eating the various flavors of KitKat bars Daniel had brought back from Tokyo (those soy ones were pretty good, actually) as the movie played.
After it ended, Anthony was ecstatic. “That was awesome… not that scary but–”
Daniel pulled Anthony into a tight hug and didn’t let go for a while.
Afterward, one question rang in his mind for the rest of the night.
My favorite arc was Tory’s, though Terry’s derangement arc throughout the season was a close second.
I liked Tory from the start, so to see her getting the spotlight this season was great. We got to see her circumstances in greater detail, we got to well and truly root for her as a character and a fighter, we see how she understands her poverty in comparison to everyone else’s wealth and the weight that rests on her shoulders because if she can’t bear it, her horrible aunt will try, and we even got to know Amanda better through it too (Amanda as a former Tory who got arrested for attacking the person her dad was cheating on her mom with and then got help was a fantastic choice). And that twist at season’s end destroyed me and I want to give Tory all the hugs… also screw you Terry. I also have the unpopular opinion that if there’s anyone Kreese actually cares about other than himself, it’s Tory rather than Johnny, so take that for what you will.
Speaking of Terry Silver… his derangement arc (from “reformed” man to the man we saw in KK3) was pretty magnificently done. The multiple classical references (I am particularly in love with him reading the Leviathan… and may be writing a fic featuring that fact in the near future), his twisted relationship with Kreese, the two scenes he got with Daniel (though I wanted more so, so badly), how every episode saw him get just a bit more fucked up each time… it was just extremely well done… even if my Cobra Husbands shipping heart is broken.
My least favorite arcs were the Anthony is a bully arc and whatever the hell they decided to do with Daniel this season.
Kenny and Anthony are great characters, and I wish they could have had a more original arc than they got (I can see the writers wanted a Johnny Lawrence-Daniel Larusso parallel there, but REALLY… REALLY WRITERS). This arc really spotlighted the writers’ blinders when it comes to Gen Z and younger; nerds aren’t ostracized to nearly this degree anymore, and honestly the writing of the actual bullying was almost comically bad. I actually have an alternate version of the Kenny-Anthony arc I’d love to spill the beans about if anyone’s curious. AND I feel like this arc really fed the bad faith actors in the Cobra Kai fandom (mostly outside Tumblr) who were like “Oh, Daniel doesn’t care about Anthony” despite evidence to the contrary, so that got me more than a little peeved.
Now my problems with how the writers are handling Daniel can be summed up in two sentences (though if anyone wants to hear more, I can talk more): You can’t have it both ways, writers. You can’t have Daniel acting like an asshole because of his trauma and then have practically every other character refuse to take it seriously in-story. However, if this was an intentional choice made with the idea that minimizing people’s trauma has devastating consequences that’ll be explored in Season 5… then my massive issue with this choice might very well be happily resolved.
Rating: T/M (nothing too suggestive happens but there are implications of past relationships with Terry Silver)
“I’m not so sure you’ll believe me,” Carmen said to Daniel, both of them three drinks in and watching Amanda try to teach Johnny the rumba.
“Trust me, Carmen, I’ve had enough wild experiences in my life to believe anything. Who was he?”
Carmen sighed, letting the name of her ex-husband fall from her lips. “Terry Silver.”
Daniel’s eyes widened… in recognition of all things, and at that, Carmen blanched, remembering the name Terry would sometimes whisper in their marriage bed, Dani, Dani, Danny—
And Carmen could barely hear Daniel’s whispered, “I’ve been fooled–”
What I meant was for the WIP game, the Karate War Podcast and Sing 2 AU
No worries, I’m glad to have the chance to put both your requests into separate answers!
The Karate War Podcast fic has been really fun to write/outline, because I’m essentially using it as a Season 4 rewrite which keeps the parts I loved about Season 4 while altering/remixing the parts I really… didn’t.
The part of Season 4 that bothered me most was that the Anthony-Kenny arc seemed to be treading ground that had been walked multiple times within Cobra Kai alone, let alone within the entire Karate Kid universe and didn’t take the fact that they are Gen Z into account at ALL. So I decided, “Let’s scrap the bully arc, have Anthony and Kenny be BFFs from the get go and do a secret podcast that goes viral because honestly this is the sort of story that would make a podcast go viral”.
Also it gives me the chance to really delve into Anthony and Daniel’s relationship (and it’s Anthony who gets the full Terry Silver trauma story… much to Daniel’s chagrin), so that was super fun!
Speaking of which, that relationship is the focus of the snippet I’m posting, as seen under the cut.
“I know you’ve done some frustrating, reckless things, but this might be the dumbest one you’ve done.”
Anthony gave a start, instinctively hugging his iPad in defense. “Dad, I thought you’d like this podcast, Miyagi-do is getting a lot of positive attention because of it–”
“Do I look like I care about that?”
Anthony blinked. “Yeah, a bit… but seriously when Sam gets into the karate war and does karate with you and sneaks away for Johnny Lawrence’s eagle shit lessons, you’re all gung-ho, go Sammy, but when I just comment on it from a podcast, you’re mad at me, is there anything I can do to get you to–”
Daniel grabbed Anthony’s shoulders and yelled, “Stop painting a target on your back to get Terry Silver off mine! I’m your father, I’m supposed to protect you!”
Anthony looked shaken but stared firmly at his dad; he had a gut feeling that a whole lot depended on that. “Dad… Was that the man who was harassing you at the corner market after you tried talking to Robby?”
“Anthony…”
Anthony hated the way his dad sounded, like he was on the verge of tears… hated even more that he got his answer from that. “What did that creep mean when he was talking about how you liked it?”
