did darksnow get his scar from the fire that drove roseclan out of the forest, or was it something else?

Yes, I think in this universe he did get his scars from the RoseClan forest fire. Like with his other self, it would've happened when he was an apprentice, and traumatized him pretty badly. Just another terrible thing to pile onto early BarrenClan's lasting scars.

Like Pinepaw, Darksnow was a healer, but only became one after his injury. He remembered how it felt to be in that much pain while the Clan was struggling to survive, and still have someone trying to save your life. He wasn't the bravest individual, but he wanted to pass it forward.

The oracle pictured in these panels is Dodol, an ex-loner who had a knack for showing up in the right place at the right time. The RoseClan cats back then were quite surprised since oracles only tended to be born into the Clans.

From left to right, the other cats are Elkstep, Hollyfrost, and the oracle after Dodol, Crowface (though here she's Crowkit). Dodol lived a very long life and died of old age. Crowface wasn't so lucky to shoulder the task of being the oracle of RoseClan right when the great destruction happened.

How did Darksnow and Dodol get here . What's happening (<---- thrilled) (FANTASTIC issue btw) (I adored the worldbuilding and the prose and the art and the section about Nightberry's mother's [Swanwing?] death was so cool and awesome and WHOOOLEY SHIT the panel of Pine and Night sharing thoughts? SICK!!!! FLESHRENDING!!!! FUCKING AWESOME!!!! JUST GREAT!!! CRASHG BANDICOOT!!!!!! Nightpaw so cutesok I'm done now I'm mostly invested in the Darksnow and Dodol appearances)

Thank you! Swanwing was Nightberry's mother, yes, also named after an old incredibly obscure character of mine.

I wanted this panel to be a mirror of the one from Issue 32, where Nightberry is forcing her knowledge onto Pinepaw versus doing it with his consent.

Crowface had a mate, Thorntail and a child, Badgertalon. A devastating sickness struck BarrenClan when she was older and Darksnow had already learned about being an oracle, and she tried to take them all and flee from the territory. Unfortunately, they had already contracted it, and Thorntail and Crowface both died. Badertalon survived but never returned to BarrenClan.

More seriously though, the issues keep getting better and better and this has been one of my favorite ones to date; thank you Raz! It paid off as well on its own to get an explanation for one of the most heavily foreshadowed phenomena in the comic, but especially for me, reading as someone who thinks too much about how my dreams might reveal information that I'm not meant to know yet, canon Warriors StarClan ambiguity-style.

Love the expressions (and the cameos! I want to know how Dodol or a lookalike ended up in Barrenclan or if that's just his design being recycled) in this one as well. Double instances of Pinepaw smiling again is a treat, maybe signifying the beginning of the healing process for him. I'm happy Nightberry advises him that it's going to take time.

Seeing an older Pinepaw with green grass and a blue border in a shade that I'm pretty sure has never come up in the comic yet also gives me hope for the future, but who knows what it holds!

This universe's Dodol is separate from the original one, in a sort of AU. Although, out of all my cat characters, he's the only one for whom it's perfectly reasonable that he would just wander into a random Nebraskan Clan and sit himself down.

It was very nice and satisfying to bring some resolution to Nightberry and Pinepaw's fracturous relationship. They have much more in common than not.

i think its really cool you're pulling a tezuka's star system-esque thing with your characters, its stops you from worrying about character names and designs for cats that appear only once, plus its a neat refrence :3

also, where did you get the idea for dodol's name? in slavic culture, dodolas were women who called for rain by dancing so i think that would have been a pretty interesting, if not obsure, refrence but i doubt you thought of that lol

Haha, thank you! I simply didn't feel like designing new characters and wanted to treat myself.

"Dodol" is a type of southeast-Asian candy, similar to toffee. It's why my ArtFight username is "DodolToffee"; the original character Dodol is from Indonesia. He's always had magical powers of foresight, though - here's a drawing I made of him in 2017, in fact.
