Design Debate Netiquette
designdebates.nl
Today’s design debate had a very interesting topic. Behaviour as an internet user, copyright, originality, the right use of internet, the consequences etc etc..
A lot what should be talked about. Who knows maybe right here. Or maybe better offline in real life?
This blog is partially abaout non-food, and I will try to feed responsibly.
But one more thing I have to mention. It was said, that in our generation people are answering questions more and more only out of a personal view and self orientated: i think, i like, i want, i would …Answers based on informations, history, factdata and more objective views are getting more rare.
Is everybody only dipping stuff in his own soup?
Jeder braut sein eigenes Süppchen? Dann muss es jeder auch selber auslöffeln!?

Every regeneration is caused by some kind of physical or mental force which costs power and sometimes even organic matter. This loss will be recharged or rebuilt during regeneration, plus the body will adapt physically or mentally to the new experienced requirement. To say it drastically simple and summarized: regeneration means not only getting good again. It also means literally getting better. Regeneration is improvement.
If we suppose that a primitive part of human nature is the need of getting better in any kind of way, and that regeneration is the concept behind it, then I would like to look at its possible and impossible applications. How far are we actually celebrating the act of regeneration as improvement? And are there any limits to it?
Let‘s look at it really close, and I mean really close like just as close as you can get with an electron microscope(1) to see the very basic engine behind all this improving. Stem-cells are the basic material of our bodies. When our body is physically or mentally forced, our brain tells this stem-cell-material to split into cells with a certain function.
For example when we learn, some of our stem-cells will be told to split into neurons(2) to make the needed connections in our brain. We keep the knowledge, the memory and maybe reach new conclusions. A gap in our mental puzzle has been filled. Another example is the situation after a long run: our body is not only using the time to recharge the power we lost during the run. No, our brain also tells the stem-cells to split into new muscle-cells and to make the needed organs bigger so that they can stand the new requirement better.
The organ which tells the stem-cells to split, our brain, is best in soaking up and using informa- tion till the late adolescent age, because of the activity-level of our stem-cells up there.(3) And after that we still go on and on with widen our horizon and possibilities in several disciplines. No matter where we come from, we desire to change into the better.
Why are we doing that? Out of a personal deep rooted motivation? To some point a human being can actually be ambitious without any extern reasons. But there is always some influence from outside stimulations included. That is why also a political, eco- nomical or a social system, is a motivation to improve oneself. And sometimes improvement is not even the goal but a requirement or tool to achieve something external like success for example. The force is defining the improvement but the goal can be a later result.
Meanwhile I also came across conclusions which do slump down my thesis about regeneration and improvement. Because sometimes you have to regenerate from actions you don‘t start yourself. And even though the action is self chosen, the adaption which follows up is not always an aim.
But to think about cases that use regeneration in order to improve oneself, I want to name a few: we have bodybuilders and nerds, deep-sea divers and meditative ones, beauty competition attenders and generalists. They make use of this system to their desire but can reach certain limits. Limits, where they have to decide if and how to proceed. The body builder can reach a level where he only can have small improvements. Or just keep his level. Also he can go so far that the improvement becomes the vice. Muscles can disturb blood-flow or leave too little space for inner organs. Tissue can tear apart and cells need to di- vide in huge numbers what even can lead to cancer. Oh, and not to forget the trouble because of steroids. Not only the nerd can step into situations where he lacks of social skills, because he was just sticking his nose into theology. Besides that he is completely wasted because of the use of ritalin while learning latin all night through. The deep-sea diver turns frivolous, meditative ones start using substances that support consciousness, the beauty-competition attenders get hairs at strange places because the body is lacking warmth of body-fat and the generalist is reaching burn out while being his own boss.
But enough from this old shoe, people should have understood that they can‘t use regeneration to improve eternal. Stem-cells also take a certain time to split and get weaker by the age.
And here we open the stage for a new goodness. Regenerative medicine(4) and stem-cell therapy(5) cannot only repair humans with real stem-cells, it can even make them supernatural. I thought about what if people can be obsessed to improvement? And I bet there are people who are. But all of them will reach some kind of natural border where they need to step back again, or really start misusing themselves. Certainly in our age of mankind those dead ends start to vanish and it is only a question of time when we can transport digital brain-content and become even physical immortal because stem-cells can be stopped of getting old and weak. That‘s the moment when improvement becomes inconceivable.
And before I loose myself in speculations about supernatural improvements I must admit that adaption does not always mean improvement according to the following.
What if an external influence makes use of your power in a certain way to achieve also an external desire in your body. We could call this brainwash and ideologic physical activism. In a small level a school system is an ongoing example of a specific aiming for improving the knowledge and skills of others.
Maybe we should be more conscious about our inner happenings. About our metabolisms, neutrons and dividing stem-cells and everything that is naturally going on inside us. We could live in a regenerative lifestyle which is based on a very simple system, I explained several times now.
It can help you to be more conscious about the actions you do yourself, the actions that you come across and the actions others do to you.
We are living in a time where our natural possible adaptions are, and will be widened. It can be helpful to be more aware and conscious about yourself adapting in this world. There is a good side to it, but also a bad one. And of course the grey area in between.
Want to know your adaption? I may advice you to think about stuff in a regenerative understanding.

refresh: time for an update!
it has been a while since I have posted something on here. So instead of waiting till i can repost stuff from the past I will rather start from the now and maybe blog things from the past meanwhile.
