Regarding NHS, maybe I missed it or something, but did he knew exactly who murdered his brother? Or did he set everything so WWX could do it for him? Idk, I'm seriously curious about NHS... I know that he lied a lot at the end, but maybe he was just trying to do his own justice? (I hope I'm making sense, haha)
Hey there!
Spoiler alert
Don’t forget the mysterious letters incriminating Jin Guangyao and the rescue of a key witness from his clutches ;)
What we know comes from Wei Wuxian’s speculation in chapter 109. Nie Huaisang certainly spent many years plotting his revenge in minute details, investigating his brother’s death and gathering information and testimonies from the shadows. But when it came to the actual risky business of dealing with Nie Mingjue’s corpse and openly confronting Jin Guangyao, his scheme was to deliberately leave all the hard work to others (with some careful nudging from his part).
He lied, manipulated and did some underhand dealings to achieve his goal but morality is light grey and dark grey in the cultivation world.
I also answered an ask about Nie Huaisang’s motivations here.

just a breath away 🍒
The dark night sky comes alive in vivid violet.
Lightning snaps in and out of sight, visible even with two strong arms bracketing Tooru against the wall of a closed conbini. The air plasters itself to their bodies, warm and humid and electrifying.
“Didn’t think the storm would be here this quick,” Iwaizumi pants, alcohol still fresh on his breath. “It’s slowing us down, but I think we’ve lost them.” His nose brushes Tooru’s, brief and unintentional, but Tooru’s heartbeat quickens anyway. Iwaizumi’s hair, dripping wet and flattened against the side of his face, looks smooth enough to touch, the scent of his shampoo mingling with the petrichor in the air.
Music drones from a nearby club, neon lights washed out and smudgy, advertising drink and food out front. The pink glow looks nice on Iwaizumi’s handsome face. It is distracting enough to momentarily let Tooru forget about the bar fight they’d just escaped. He stares at Iwaizumi while he catches his breath, sucking in the night air in greedy gulps.
“You okay?” Iwaizumi asks.
Tooru pauses, rubs his hands together. He fights the urge to curl them into the hem of Iwaizumi’s soaked shirt. Brain muddled with alcohol and the mental imprints of Iwaizumi’s warm, heavy hand on his thigh, it takes him a moment to gather his thoughts. When he gets to the point where Iwaizumi challenged a tipsy stranger to an arm wrestling match while greatly inebriated himself, laughter bubbles up Tooru’s throat.
Iwaizumi shakes him by the shoulders, grip light but purposeful. “How drunk are you?”
Tooru laughs again. “You got totally wiped off the table! I’ve never—” Tooru snorts, “I’ve never seen you lose that spectacularly, Iwa-chan.” He isn’t sure if it was as funny as he he thinks it is or if the alcohol warped his judgment, but Iwaizumi’s face scrunches into an expression of half-honest worry and amusement, and that alone makes it perfect.
Iwaizumi is close again, brows knit together in irritation. His lips flit across Tooru’s, barely there warmth making him want to lean in and chase after it. “I got distracted, Shittykawa. No way in hell was that a fair matchup.”
Tooru hides a giggle behind his hand. It’s not like Iwaizumi to try and find excuses for a loss. “But you picked the fight, Iwa-chan. You might’ve been a little too optimistic.”
“No, everything was going great until…” Iwaizumi trails off, green eyes sparking heat into Tooru’s veins. Drizzles of rain hit his warm skin, doing nothing to cool him down. The wall against his back is uncomfortable, and Tooru shifts, hyper-aware of Iwaizumi’s presence. He hasn’t moved or attempted to give Tooru room, still boxing him in against the wall as if he was keeping him secret from the rest of the world.
“When you started dancing on the table, I thought you’d lost it.”
All of Tooru’s blood shoots into his cheeks. It makes his head spin; it makes him dizzy. He hadn’t been aware Iwaizumi had seen. Iwaizumi’s lips pull him back to the present, moving against his as he speaks. They don’t go away when Tooru answers, taking his words straight from his mouth with a lopsided smile.
“Iwa-chan…” Tooru’s stomach churns, adrenaline working its way up to his throat, threatening to spill. He presses in closer and Iwaizumi’s arms circle around his back, pulling him in.
“Don’t do that again,” Iwaizumi says, “unless I’m the only one watching.”
A violent shiver rolls down Tooru’s spine. Up to this moment he’d thought Iwaizumi had just been joking in the way he always does when he’s had a few drinks. He’s always handsy and a little flirty when they go out, but the way he said that, the way he’s got Tooru pinned against the wall now, heart drumming against Tooru’s rib cage, it’s almost as if…
“I want you to myself.”
Iwaizumi’s mouth tastes like cherries and rum. He tries to say something else, but Tooru doesn’t let him. There is nothing more that needs to be said.
Lightning and thunder and rain culminate in a show of light and sound above as they stifle the sounds between them. Iwaizumi kisses him like the world is going to end, desperate and full, and Tooru thinks, briefly, that if it is, he’ll take it all in stride.
He can’t keep up with how long they stay there, too caught up in the way Iwaizumi’s tongue feels in his mouth or how he sounds when Tooru rubs his knee between his thighs. Iwaizumi’s got a cut on his chin, maybe from shaving, maybe from the brawl back at the bar. Tooru gently smoothes his thumb along it, presses his lips to it when they come up for air.
“I’m all yours, Iwa-chan. Thought you knew.”
Iwaizumi’s eyes blaze in the dark. He kisses Tooru again, a little softer, a little sweeter. “Wanted to hear you say it.”
So Tooru says it again, between kisses and admissions of attraction, between gasps and caresses, between bitten lips and laughter.
The storm continues on, wind whistling in Tooru’s ears and thunder shaking the city. Even now he feels no fear.
He knows Iwaizumi will keep him safe through the night.
