It isn’t normal, and it can turn into obsessive behavior. If I’m right about thinking it looks like his tail is shredded, it might be painful or itch at the moment- salt treatment can help with that & prevent fin rot from setting in. Keep the lights off longer for him until it heals, and if he’s still doing that after it heals, rearranging the tank should help.

Ah! Thank you!!! His tail is pretty torn up, from the fish I rehomed as soon as I realized it was harassing him... :c The other fish has been gone for a couple of days now and this is the first I’ve seen him doing it. But I did just do a water change the other day, so maybe between it being torn up and the new water it just started bothering him more? Idk, either way I will most certainly start treating him, thank you so much

“If you want to share…?” Living with a baker didn’t necessarily mean he had access to raw ingredients. Lots of goods that were no longer fresh enough to sell yes, ingredients no. Especially harder to get things like honey.

“Why would I refuse to share?” He was always so eager just to get his hands on a jar, but often times it was difficult to eat something so sweet on his own and in more than small batches. “I have a small jar on me right now, actually. The merchant only had small sample jars...” He felt like he was getting cheated, but it was easy than trying to get to the bees themselves. “Also, have you really never seen a bee before...? The little yellow and black things? Kind of fuzzy?”

“How bad do you think I would feel afterwards if I tracked that fairy that hexed us down and ate it?” He’s joking, but the bitterness is still definitely there.

Honestly, he’s kind of glad that the body belongs to someone that he’s at least familiar with but even so it doesn’t make it any less weird as he flops down beside the one who now had his body. “What do we tell your owner?” Ani asks as he puffs the other’s cheeks in a pout. At least if it wasn’t his face, he didn’t feel so exposed here...

But the other in his mask looked so out of place to him that it was almost disorienting.

Casually lifts the mask to lick his cheek in response. “It goes both ways, right?” The question was only a little uncertain sounding

To be honest, he had actually become quite alarmed when the other had licked him back. Especially more so when the other had lifted his mask. He’d done it more or less just to get some sort of attention, but he wasn’t expecting that response. “... We are friends for good, then? Right?” He asked, kind of wanting to swat the other’s hand away so he could pull his mask down and hide his face again but he didn’t.

“Sure? You can do it even without me asking something, if you want. It was because I didn’t know you then.” Pets from someone else with ears like his would probably feel really good, since he probably knew exactly how much pressure to use.

“Really!?” The audible gasp behind his mask is one of delight as he practically jumps for the opportunity, reaching out to gently touch the tips first with his pointer finger and thumb moving slow circular motions. “How does that feel? I sometimes do this to my own ears when I need sleep...”

Courting Gift Day 6: A set of four smaller, more utilitarian bone knives with plaited leather grips, clearly geared more towards every day use than fighting.

He took the knives again, still impressed by the quality even if they weren’t as intricate. They would be useful for anything he might need to do while gathering ingredients or working at home or in the bakery. “Thank you. I’ll put 'em where I won’t forget ‘em.” 

He examined them for a while longer with a fond smile, testing the sharpness and the balance, before he tucked them away in the bag he took everywhere with him.

Courting Gift Day 5: He had been painstakingly working on these as often as possible during the past two days, doing his best to weight them properly and match the grips to the size of his hands. The length and lesser curve of this buck's antlers had actually been why he had targeted him in particular. He somewhat proudly presented a matched pair of bone knives, with a plaited leather grip around the base antler handles, to his Owner.

He was starting to wonder where Eric even found the time to make things like this that were so intricately crafted. He honestly found himself worrying that the other wasn’t taking care of himself while simultaneously being impressed that he worked so quickly and so well. He took the knives into his hands and squeezed the grips before testing the balance. 

Excellent…

“Ya keep outdoing yourself,” he said, not used to this level of dedication and feeling unsure of himself and what he should be feeling. The baker found it easier to turn the conversation to Eric. “Have ya been sleeping enough? I don’t mind if ya need ta take a break… I don’t want ya runnin’ yourself to death for this…”

Maybe… Maybe they could do the amount of gifts he should receive in the amount of time Eric had set instead of keeping just to that strict deadline?

Courting Gift Day 4: Another necklace, though this one was perhaps more masculine than the previous two. Deer teeth and hawk feather, three sets of matched wing feathers increasing in size to a tail feather in the center, on braided deer sinew. He was hoping the baker would find this one a little more impressive.

Izumo didn’t mind the first two, though he was careful when he wore them to make sure his job didn’t lead to them being ruined. He couldn’t believe how good Eric was with making things like this. The other could really do amazing things with his hands, no innuendo meant, his mind supplied.

“Ya really are amazin’ at this,” he decided to tell the other, smiling as he took it and ran a finger over another one of the feathers again. It was immediately around his neck, smile growing softer. “Did ya ever think about makin’ a shop for these?” It was as high of a compliment as he could give anyone, that their work was of wonderful quality.
