usually, fyodor has no patience for children. they’re annoying at best (and infuriating at worst), but he can make exceptions for certain gifted children. children are especially open to manipulation - their minds still fresh, still growing (even a child as tainted as the one standing in front of him; innocence stained with violence and bloodshed) - and manipulation happens to be what he’s best at. this one - yumeno kyusaku - could be useful. it’s why he had bothered to seek him out. when one has the ability to rule the whole chessboard under their fingertips, it’s checkmate for the enemy. and q’s ability can do exactly that (with a gentle point in the right direction, of course).
“they’re scared of you? because you want to play?” well, isn’t that just not fair! if q wants to have a little fun, who are the mafia to stop such a gifted child? “... a pity. all because you bear a curse, though i, myself, see it as a gift. “let me tell you something that shall stay between us - i, too, am feared because of my ability.” granted, there’s reasoning behind fearing fyodor, but he needs to find likeness between the two of them in order to move q into place successfully.
“the port mafia... you dislike them.” fyodor states. perhaps he would usually stop and think about what he’s saying, but this he’s fairly sure of. “they use you, yet lock you away when they’re done. all because of your ability. if i were to offer you the chance to leave here, the chance to be rid of your ability forever-” he pauses, a smile that is reminiscent to a predator baring teeth at prey the only visual clue of his feelings. “tell me, yumeno kyusaku, would you take it?”
