hannibal sits parked outside your house, staring at your front door through the windshield. it's four o'clock in the morning; you had called him half an hour prior, begging him to come to your house. 'it's urgent', you told him, a noticeable waver in your voice. he'd gotten around with swift haste, grabbing nothing but a coat and his car keys before heading out the door.
he steps out of his vehicle, slamming the car door shut and locking all four with a chirp of his key. he climbs up the small set of stairs to your door and wraps his fist against it three times.
there's no answer; not a single sound comes from inside. hannibal knocks again, finding the same result. he grabs the doorknob and twists, pulling open the door and stepping inside. it shuts behind him, blowing wind, and that's when he catches a whiff of copper—blood.
stepping deeper into your house, he catches a glimpse of red from the corner of his eye. looking down at his feet, he finds a trail of blood leading from the living room to upstairs. calmly and carefully, he climbs, up, up, up, until he's at the top of the staircase. down the hall, the bathroom door is creaked open a smidge; a bloody handprint wrapped around the doorknob. he approaches, taking slow strides, then pushes the door open with his knuckles.
he finds you, sitting on the tile floor with your knees to your chest, hugging them tightly. you're covered in blood; your hands, lower face, and chest being the most bedaubed. your eyes are wide, unblinking, as if you've seen a ghost, your breathing shallow and uneven, jaw slack.
you're shaking.
"what happened here?" hannibal finally speaks, eyes trained on you. but he knows; it's happened before. you whimper and shake your head, on the brink of tears. he takes just a couple steps before he's knelt before you on one knee, hands on your shoulders.
he reiterates his question, "what happened here, y/n?"
you finally look up at him, vision blurred with tears, some trickling down your bloodied cheeks. he drags his hand up your neck to cup your face, wiping your tears away. you let out an unsteady breath, voice wavering, "it was an accident."
"what was, y/n?"
"i.. i-i ate.." you have to choke the words out of your throat. "i-i ate someone, doctor.." you avert your eyes, ashamed. "i didn't- i didn't mean to. i just.. i'm so.."
"i know," he shushes you, stroking your cheek with his the pad of his thumb. "i know, y/n." you both sit in silence for a moment before he asks another question. "where is the body."
you swallow around the lump in your throat. "the living room."
he nods, a plan already formulating in his mind. "okay. let's get you cleaned up first; i'll take care of the body later."
you'd protest about him cleaning up your mess—he always does—but you're too tired to, too shocked. so, you nod meekly, allowing him to pull you up and sit you down on the edge of the tub. he turns the knob, water flowing from the tap. he helps get your clothes off, helps you into the bath. he pours warm water over your head to wash the dried blood from your hair. he soaps up a rag, gently scrubbing the blood from your skin.
all the while, you watch, numb and in shock of the earlier events.
he grabs your hand, taking the rag across your knuckles. you gaze at him, take in his facial features. he doesn't miss it; he always notices every glance you steal at him, every subtle comment, every featherlight touch. he doesn't miss a single thing.
he brings a hand to your wet hair, running his fingers through. eyes meeting yours, he gives you a kind smile before rubbing the rag over your shoulder. you hug your knees, picking at hangnails.
a few more minutes pass and you're clean, though you're still stained, the memory ingrained. hannibal pulls out the stopper and grabs a towel, wrapping it around your shoulders.
"let's get you to bed, dear."
an hour has passed; hannibal went to take care of the body, leaving you to your own devices. you haven't done much, you tried to read a book, failing to focus on the words, your head replaying the earlier events over and over like a broken record.
you and your date on the couch, watching a pretty gory horror movie. the blood was making you salivate; you turned your glance to them before moving in to kiss their neck, lips dragging down their shoulder. then that kiss turned to a bite, and soon you had broken skin. you tore a chunk out of their shoulder, ripping a scream from the pit of their throat. they dug their nails into you, gurgling on their own blood before going limp in your arms.
"y/n."
you're snapped from your daze at the sound of hannibal's voice, looking up to see him. he's clean of any blood and smells of shampoo.
"hannibal." you let out a shaky breath; he motions to the bed, silently asking to sit. you nod, and he takes a seat.
“how are you feeling?” he asks, eyes trained on you, though he doesn’t need to ask; he’s always had a talent at reading people. you swallow, eyes lowering to your hands.
“i’m… i’m not sure.”
he nods slowly, then grabs your hand, tugging you close until your head rests against his chest, arms encircling your middle, pressing his palm to your upper back.
“that’s alright, darling,” he whispers. “but i’m here now. there’s no need to worry.”
you let out a shaky breath, nodding. “thank you.”
he hums. “of course, y/n.”
your eyes flutter as you try your hardest to stay awake. hannibal presses a kiss to the top of your head, “it’s okay, darling, go to sleep. i’ll be here when you wake.”
you grumble, but you don’t fight it. just before you fade into unconsciousness, you say once again, “thank you, han.”
he hums, rubbing soothing circles into your back. “always.”

they were hungry. there was only a couple cans of fruit in the cabinet, and a carton of spoiled milk in the fridge
you weren’t home yet; you had another late night at work, to doe’s chagrin. they were being good, though, patient
but by the gods did it miss you, because he was near tearing her hair out and biting their nails to the beds while waiting for the time to tick by
and then they got hungry
and it all got worse
because now, not only are they yearning to be near you again, she’s starving
for flesh
and there’s not a single piece of meat in the house
usually, they’d go out to find someone something to eat, but he felt lazy, too hungry and too lovesick to move
so, they laid curled up in a blanket that smelled like you, in a fetal position, stomach rumbling loudly and chest tight as it waited for you to return from work
and soon, you did. not fifteen minutes later, her ears perked up at the sound of the front door opening and closing
it nearly trampled over his feet when they jumped out of bed and dashed down the hall to greet you
‘ darling! ’ they’d shout, practically tackling you to the floor as her arms wrapped around you, face burying itself in your chest
you’re a little shocked, but then you chuckled and draped your arms over his back. ‘ i missed you, too, my love ’ you hummed; it purred into your ear, breath hot against your neck
a loud rumble filled the room. you blinked, and it doesn’t take you long to figure out where it came from:
doe’s stomach - they hadn’t eaten a single thing today
you huffed a small, airy chuckle, ‘ sweetheart… ’ you propped yourself up on one elbow, peering down at him. she peeked up at you in return
you cupped their cheek, smiling at it softly, then brought that same hand to push your jacket off one arm, grabbing your t-shirt next to pull it off halfway, baring your shoulder to them
immediately she started to drool, eyes flicking from the tender flesh to your own loving eyes, as if looking for permission
you cupped their cheek again and brought him closer, bumping your nose with hers, then tilted its head towards your shoulder
‘ go ahead, my dear ’ you breathed, chest rising and falling slowly. it was the least you could do, let her feed off of you. you’d rather this than have them starve
doe swallowed, arms tightening around you as it buried his nose in the crook of your neck and shoulder, inhaling your scent deeply with a whiny little moan
she licked a stripe up the side of your neck, savoring your flavor. the tip of its nose brushed along your skin as he made way to your shoulder
their breath is hot against your bare skin; you feel her drool drip onto your shoulder, humming as he licked it up
then, she sunk its teeth into your tender flesh
you let out a loud yelp, head falling back against the floor. she snakes his hand up to grip your scruff, holding you in place while she took a bite out of you
it throbbed painfully; blissfully
you smiled as it took another bite out of you, tears falling from your eyes, hand fisting his shirt tightly
you were happy to provide for her, happy that you’re the one to give it what they so desperately need
and as your blood dripped down your arm, your chest, your back, as she licked your wound, kissed up your neck and jaw to your lips, you knew you’d do it again for them

author’s note: haaaaiiiiii, i know the layout’s a bit different, i’m trying something new, but i still hope you liked it! plsss send in asks, i’m bored as helllll and wanna write some stuff. p.s. i’m working on a steve harrington fic
‘ no hon, we can’t keep the cat, ’ steve looked down at you, arms crossed over his chest. brown eyes giving you that stern stare that you know is all bark, no bite. he had a hard time saying no to you; he’d give you the world if it meant he could see you smile.
you gazed up at him, cradling the little kitty in your hands and holding it up. ‘ baby, we can’t leave it here, ’ you argued, ‘ what if it starves to death? ’
he huffed softly, shaking his head, gaze melting as he took in your expression. with a reluctant, defeated sigh, a small smile tugged at his lips, ‘ fine. fine, let’s get some cat food and a litter box. ’
