This may be reading too much into it, but I loved TADC when I first saw it in December. I loved all the little easter eggs, the nods to cartoons and computer programming history, the surrealism and wackiness of it, and the genuine effort behind it.
Then the finale came out, I watched it, and it was genuinely awful. None of the characters’ actions made any sense. Jax’s backstory was completely absurd. Caine just magically popped back to life for no reason. What happened? I asked myself. How did I show I loved so much get so ass? How did I not notice all of these problems?
Then I remembered that I was heavily drinking and drugging when episodes 7 and 8 came out, and sober by 9.
To say that yesterday was one of the scariest of my life would be an understatement.
I was rushed into hospital for heavy bleeding and because I was passing huge clots. I had been passing a few for two days prior but up until that point, doctors hadn’t been worried. It was disappointing that I got the the point where I was blue lighted to the hospital before they looked into it.
After some tests it was determined that it looked like some placenta had been left behind after Lando was born. They decided to start me on a course of antibiotics then operate the following day… that quickly changed to ‘in the next two hours’ after I passed another large clot.
From then, it all happened very fast…
Surgery went smoothly, had an iron transfusion and now I am now just waiting to be discharged but honestly, not how I expected my weekend to start.
Once again though, my husband has been my absolute rock. I’m honestly also so lucky to have such fab parents who dashed up from Bristol last minute to grab my dog and my mother-in-law who stayed with little Lando so that Andy could be with me ♥️
So lucky to have such an amazing family unit 🥹
We’re both exhausted and emotional and can’t wait to get home! Thank you for all the well wishes! It’s meant a lot to have so many wonderful people looking out for me 🥹
Hey guys, have another post of me loving Tommy’s character development.
I absolutely loved the scene with Tommy and Tubbo at the second festival. Tommy entered the event angry and looking for some sort of justice - in fact he didn’t fully know what he wanted - revenge on Dream, revenge on everyone who had wronged him and forced him to suffer in exile, and his music discs back. The day before, he’d been torturing Fundy, threatening Ranboo, helping Techno loose a wither on L’Manburg and was considering blowing up buildings in some effort to maybe get Dream to listen to him.
The Tommy entering the festival was violent and fiercely angry - and still desperately lonely underneath it all, having convinced himself that just getting his discs back would make it okay. Technoblade had helped him recover in some respects from the feelings of despair and worthlessness that had afflicted him during his time in exile, but he had also encouraged him to want to seek revenge and cut ties with his old friends for good. He was not in a good headspace.
And, upon arriving at the festival, its to find Dream blaming him for more crimes he didn’t commit and Tubbo seemingly listening. Tommy was furious to see his friend appeasing Dream yet again and betraying him further. It was his worst fears confirmed.
That’s why he jumped down, asking Tubbo to trust him for once. Angry that no one ever listened, no one really cared.
But Tubbo had many reasons to be furious as well. And he was! Once again, he was just trying to do his best to keep the peace and work towards a better future and his friend was messing it up again and accusing him of not caring when just a day or two ago he’d thought he’d died! And yes Tubbo didn’t care for Dream either - the festival was all supposed to be an excuse to kill Dream so he couldn’t mess with them anymore and then he could free Tommy from his exile. But Tommy - he’d been kidnapping people, working with Technoblade and causing terrorism and was, yet again, asking Tubbo to choose between him and the nation.
And so they started fighting, and screaming at each other as they did so. Everyone around them watching silently as two former friends on their last life fought to kill.
Yet just when it seemed all hope was lost and their relationship was broken beyond repair, Tommy realised he was making a mistake.
“The discs were worth more than you ever were!”
The statement was spoken out of anger, with the intent to hurt - and they met their mark as both boys froze and stared at each other in pain. This was wrong. No sooner were the words out of his mouth than Tommy regretted them. Tommy could only look around, suddenly aware of the many onlookers watching them both.
In that moment, Tommy realised he was in the wrong and absolutely everything that came after was about trying to fix his mistakes. He said, “I’m worse than everyone I didn’t want to be,” as he realised he hated the path he was on. He didn’t want to hurt his friends anymore no matter how much he himself had been hurt. He instructed Tubbo to give up the disc there and then, rather than letting it come between them. He told Techno he couldn’t be with him anymore, that he was choosing his old friends.
His following speech had him telling everyone that they should put the past to one side for now, put all old grudges aside and work together to fight for what they believed in. It’s advice Tommy was trying to live by in that moment, deciding that the pain he’d suffered didn’t make hurting others in return right. If he’d continued to be angry at Tubbo, he’d have lost him. Seeking revenge wouldn’t help him, wouldn’t fix his loneliness when all he’d really wanted was his friends back.
Tommy’s development throughout this stream was realising that reconciling and apologising was the better way. He admitted fault, not just to them but to himself and promised himself that he’d do better. Perhaps he had been wronged, the exile was frightfully unfair (and Dream was certainly his number one enemy) but him being violent and angry didn’t help him, it just hurt others and left him even more alienated from his friends. The next day, he went out of his way to apologise to Sapnap, not because Sapnap was blameless or that he hadn’t had his reasons but in apologising, they were both able to become closer as friends, putting their messy, messy past behind them once more. He and Tubbo lost everything in Doomsday, but they regained each other and that was enough.
Tommy had been going down a dark path, but he rejected it.
