That time I was #DoingPot at the Musee Guimet and saw this unusual Longquan bowl with stamped plaques all around. Nice technique from the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368), when "China" was ruled by the Mongols. Apparently this item was acquired by the museum in 1912. While it is nice to see good collections of Chinese art/craft in Asia, it is also a great pleasure to see important European/American collections because the difference in tastes reveals the greater range in styles produced in China, outside of the official imperial canon. And we all know about Qing Emperor Qianlong, his dubious taste and his vandalism/scribbling on otherwise nice things. But lets not go there and enjoy this bowl for now. 🇫🇷 #SceneInParis #LongquanLovely #CrushTheQing #Latergram
