Dollar General Puts Out Press Release to Hire 6000 More Employees
While many retail store chains are struggling to keep up with the economy, Dollar General is already getting ready to open up about 625 stores in 2012 and they intend to hire about 6000 new employees. It's easy to see how a discount store like this can rise up in the ranks as quickly as this one did; with the recession in full swing a couple of years ago, it has been able to create about 21,000 new jobs since then and now has over 9800 stores in 38 of the United States.
This all comes at a time when unemployment is at its lowest in the past 3 1/2 years. It appears America's spending habits may have changed from the "keep up with the Joneses" to "it's cool to be a frugal family." The only bad news about how the Dollar Stores are starting to reign supreme in the retail industry for discount items is the fact that Sears Holdings Corporation plans to close approximately 120 Sears and Kmart stores this year. It's also interesting to note that a segment of Walmart stores have been on the decline for the past 9 months as of this writing.
If you're interested in finding a job with them, you can download and print a Dollar General Application online from their careers website, fill it out, and visit the store of your choice. You should also know the Dollar General stores offer other different careers in their distribution center and at the corporate level. Dollar General store's mission is very simple; they want to keep growing while serving the community's needs at the same time, they want their employees to serve the customers well, excel at what they do, and to have the determination to really succeed professionally.
