21 Day Fix - Day 7 - one full week!
One full week into the program! We made it!!!!! It actually wasn't hard. It was surprisingly EASY. We're not hungry. We're not craving anything. We're losing weight. Chris' blood sugar is dropping. WHY DIDN'T WE DO THIS SOONER? Here is a recap of what we have changed: - eating twice or three times the amount of vegetables - eating three times the amount of fruit - decreased our carbohydrate intake by at least 75% - added a Shakeology shake during the day - decreased our intake of sugary treats by 100% - changed the amount of times we eat in a day (added 2-3 snacks) - Chris has decreased his fasting blood sugar levels by 50% - Chris has decreased his insulin injections by 20% - Chris has lost 6 pounds - Jill is eating two to three times the amount of protein - Jill has added exercise to her existing exercise routine - Jill has lost 1 pound Last week I spent about $40 on fresh produce an then another $50 on protein at the grocery store. That brings us to a total of $90 a week to feed the two of us. We ate a pizza on the weekend that fit into our program, but other than that all food was prepared by us. We plan more, Chris has become involved in creating the menu instead of the two of us making separate meals with a shared veggie side dish. There are a few tips and tricks that I have learned to stick with the program. It takes a day or two to prepare yourself for it. Once you received the program, you need to read through all the materials and really understand it all. Then, you need to find yourself a tool that will help you meal plan. I created a word document that had a circle for every container that we were allotted, which we would cross out as we went along our day (or as we packed our lunches). I purchased a frame at the dollar store and mounted it to the wall using double sided tape, using a whiteboard marker to cross off the circles. That lasted about a day, and after the frame crashing to the ground 4 times in 3 separate locations, I've determined that the dollar store doesn't make high-quality double sided tape. Tip #1 - don't use double sided tape from the dollar store to mount glass to the wall. Tip #2 - from my friend Jill (us Jills' have to stick together) - label the bottom of each container with the number of daily servings you are allotted Tip #3 - plan at least 3 days in advance and shop appropriately. Tip #4 - enlist support from your friends and family so that people don't bring your special things like cupcakes. Instead they bring you a bag of tomatoes. They were delicious Ashok! Tip #5 - take a before pic. Even if you don't post it on the Beachbody website, one day you might...and when that day comes, you can be proud of what you've accomplished. Tip #6 - take your measurements. You may not lose weight but you'll change your body composition. The only way to track that, officially, is with your measurements. Tip #7 - prep your veggies and fruit in advance. Freeze fruit for use in shakes. Tip #8 - schedule your workouts. Failure to do this will mean that you don't workout. Tip #9 - ladies only tip - buy a supportive sports bra. You're going to need it. Tip #10 - modify the workouts when you need to but keep moving. Try not to stop...just modify. We do have a 21 Day Fix Challenge Group coming up in September (starting September 15). If you are interested in joining us, message me. A challenge group is a small group of people who start the program at the same time, and then support each other along the way. Doing this as a group gives you a great support system, and the benefit of a coach (that's ME) to help inspire your journey. Check out the program here and email me if you would like to join.
