Yeah you're not "working closely enough" even though it's your design and pattern you sent to them to have replicated >_> I don't think anyone will get approved for plush

It’s just silly and it’s the way it’s so subjective I think that really bugs me. For example, I could buy a scarf in a store, glue a fake flower on that, and Etsy considers it handmade. No violation of their policies. I can make a drawing, have it printed out by the thousands by a company, sell it, and it’s no violation. I can even drop ship it, which means the printer ships it to the buyer and I never even touch the product. No violation. I can just sell a manufactured item and claim it’s handmade. Technically a violation, but no one would ever know and if someone even did report it, I could just say this is a handmade one. Since they are, you know, identical to my design! I understand that they want people to meet a certain ethical standard, but even when I’m going through a reputable company it’s not enough for them. What I think they really want is picture perfect hipster photos of people in staged workshops smiling and making handmade artisan products. Bonus points if you get a close up of a mysterious clay and dirt covered hand building something on a rustic wooden work bench. If only they knew that I usually craft my majestic handmade items in my pajamas, brushing my hair optional, probably a dirty plate or two on my desk, minky fuzz everywhere, stuffing everywhere, fabric everywhere, birds flying around like nuisances.

you're doing all those by hand?? I decided to just get someone else to do mine lol

I wanted to after the project got so huge, but at that point I had already committed to doing sparkly pins as a stretch goal because I really liked the idea. But I could not find a place that would offer me a sparkly option without charging an arm and a leg.
