“No, you don’t understand though.” He stuttered softly as he took deep breaths. “I haven’t eaten anything and I haven’t been able to either. It all tastes like ash to me.”

It has been going on like this all morning, the only that he has been able to drink was water and coffee, and it made no sense. He felt his heart race with fear, fear of the unknown, what was happening to him. Was he dying?

The researcher and scientist walks along a well-worn path. His eyes scan the area around him, his fingers fidgeting. He was on a mission to get coffee....something the base did not have. It was shameful. Coffee was a must, and nobody had replaced it. He sighed, his fingers slipping into his casual wear jacket, running over his phone screen.

He passed a couple of people, not paying attention to where he was walking. So when he ran into someone, he stumbled back, his head tipping to the side. His bright red eyes looked at the other.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t see you there.”
