Female dolphins remember who is aggressive when choosing a mating partner, research shows

Researchers observed unavailable female dolphins – those that were older, or with calves – did not show the same avoidant behaviour

Female dolphins recognise males by their unique calls and monitor their past behaviours, opting to avoid the most aggressive males during mating season.

What can I say? My parents and I love dolphins!

I took a time-out yesterday to walk the coast with Bella. Aside from 'Jonathon' photo bombing at top left there's two dolphins in the picture. My phone camera can't really catch them, but there's two dorsal fins showing roundabout the lobster pot marker above the jutting rocks.

We don't often see a pod together and excitingly there was a mother with her calf.

You can just see their dorsals as they swim together.
