I LOVE how intense Connor is. like yes he's very sweet and sensitive and funny but also. that boy is scary as fuck (positive). like he's so ambitious, he's such a hard worker, he knows the effect he has on people and uses it to his full advantage. I always think the best example of this is how lasered-in he is with eye contact. like the Owen Thiele podcast is a great example, he's a very active listener and will stare into your soul while he listens. This is a very random example but I also constantly think about that random video of him at his old serving job. Like he was serving face, locking eyes with the camera, introducing himself First Name Last Name. He's been hustling and working for years and part of that is making sure people remember him.

and like..that energy serves a very specific purpose but that is not for everyone. and then we have Hudson, who is also an incredibly hard worker and loves what he does and will commit fully to something as much as Connor does, and who also clearly admires Connor's work ethic and not only wants to emulate it but also win his approval.

if we're being wholesome this is a really beautiful example of two very hard working people matching each other's energy and pushing each other to be better. and if we're being a pervert. Connor is domming the shit out of that boy.

Connor has been domming regularly at a couple LA leather clubs for like ten years; he's well respected in the scene, and he has some regular subs but isn't tied to one person.

He's obviously strict about keeping his professional and personal life separate. The clubs he goes to are also pretty undercover and not exactly frequented by celebrities, so he usually doesn't have to worry about running into anyone he knows professionally

I don't know if this is realistic but I have such a funny vision of Connor going to the club on his night off; one of his friends comes over to him and tells him there's a cute new guy at the bar who looks like Connor's type and asks if she should introduce them. Connor likes to play with subs who are new to the scene and has a reputation of being someone that newcomers can go to for a good first experience. And Connor hasn't decided who he wants to play with tonight so he says sure, bring him over.

Which is how Connor and Hudson end up just staring at each other in silence for a solid 60 seconds before Connor says "you need to leave." and Hudson says "no I don't, what the fuck? Why are you here?" And Connor realizes they need to not be having this conversation out in the club's main lounge, so they have a weird half-argument in one of the playrooms.

Eventually Connor just deflates and goes "look. I'm sorry we had to run into each other this way. I'd appreciate if you didn't tell anyone, and I understand if you don't want to use my services anymore." Meanwhile Hudson is confused why Connor is upset, because he just wanted to see if kink was for him and why wouldn't he want his first experience to be with a man who he already knows and trusts to keep him safe?

hudcon and their relationships to their masculinity is a very gooey, chewy topic to me. of course, there’s something inherently homoerotic about men fighting for the approval and attention of other men, and the “acceptable” ways men often bond are very based in their bodies, like sports and working out (you construct intricate rituals to touch the skin of other men, etc.) 

Obviously for hudcon I think a big part of their bond is being able to connect over being artists, over being creative and sensitive and in touch with their emotions, when none of these traits are considered traditionally masculine. But at the same time, a lot of instances of Hudson doing his little peacock routine to get Connor’s attention feel very tied into traditional masculine performance (“look how hard I can hit this punching bag” or “let’s wrestle so you can see how strong I am, I can match you even though you’re bigger than me”)

and yes Connor loves this performance as much as Hudson does, they love playing together, but there are plenty of times when his energy towards Hudson turns very grounded and soft, like you can feel him saying “It’s okay.
