UP Alco S2 1141 by Chuck Zeiler Via Flickr: Union Pacific Railroad Alco S2 1141 at the Denver, Colorado Union Station on August 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in November 1945 (c/n 74440) on Alco Order S-3005, retired in October 1971 and traded to EMD. It was powered by a McIntosh & Seymour model 539 6 cylinder turbocharged diesel power plant. A total of 1376 Alco S2's were built for customers in the USA, 103 for Canada, and 23 for Mexico.
