Muse almost 20 years ‘part 2’ 6th of November 2003, almost 20 years ago....I made my first MUSE LIVE photographs…..Ahoy Rotterdam. Later, 28th of November 2006 I was introduced to the band. Since then we’ve been all over the place.... Photographing the band during gigs in small venues, big Stadiums, huge Festivals, rehearsal-studios etc.... Almost 20 years of (live) photography. This week, every day, I will show a never published selection of almost 20 years MUSE BY HP ❤️ Enjoy See you at the next or the next or maybe the next show 🙂 X HP #muse #almost20years #bandphotography #livephotography #tourphotography #musephotography #mattbellamy #domhoward #chriswolstenholme #hanspetervanvelthoven All 📷©️ @hpvv (bij Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClhWSRHtcxg/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Apr 30 2016 #MuseHistory @muse performed at the Top of the Mountain at the Ischgl Ski Resort in #Austria - Sunburn was on the setlist but not played. Agitated, which wasn't on the setlist, was played. Map was dropped due to technical difficulties. I was looking through some organ music and playing around a bit when I found this:
This is Gordon Young's (1919 - 1998) 'Aria' from the Cathedral Suite.

I was playing it and thinking "damn I recognise this but I'm not sure where from" and then I realised I'd heard it in here:
People saying "we want origin of symmetry back, make more music like the stuff in this album" have a point, to be fair... But maybe not for the screaming guitars and heavy drums. This is an amazing example of Muse effortlessly working in Romantic and 20th Century music into their own songs... OOS is incredible, especially in that respect. In Space Dementia there is a direct quote in the vocal line from a string passage in Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto and that's not even taking into account the brilliant use of piano very much inspired by this style used throughout the album and into their third album Absolution.
I tried doing a bit of digging to see if the similarities between Gordon Young's Aria and Muse's Megalomania were intentional but didn't find anything... For all I know it could just be a coincidence but I noticed it and thought it worth sharing :)
