Feeding our Souls
Scripture: While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."
Reflection: Jesus gives us the gift of his Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the presence of bread and wine at Mass. We take into us the gifts which Jesus left for his disciples and carry them out into the world so that all may know the love of God through our actions. The gifts freely given us are healing to the sick and tired soul; there are no requirements set by Jesus to partake of these gifts other than to love the Lord, our God, with all our heart, our soul, and our minds and to love one another as we would love ourselves. We are asked to bring our pain, our sufferings, our doubts and fears, and lay them at the altar (the foot of the cross) so that Jesus might take them from us and give to us what he gave those gathered when he fed the multitude – the gifts which feed our bodies and our souls. Let us pray for the freedom to continue to accept these gifts as Jesus intended.
Intention: With each Hail Mary, we pray for the lives of our Queer, Intersex, and all other of our (siblings): that they may find peace, reconciliation, and joy in the church and know they are loved children of our Creator.
