Destruction isn't Glamor

I know a lot of friends who smoke, even myself, and I understand that sometimes it’s all you’ve got and what you need. But please don’t romanticize it so much- the more I hear “it’s so hot to see someone smoke” the more I want to cry. People strive to be attractive, glamorizing cigarettes gives them a higher incentive to start smoking or smoke more. It’s not sexy to watch someone basically slowly kill themselves, no matter how pretty the smoke is or how mysterious it makes one appear. You wouldn’t watch and encourage your loved ones to harm their skin, why would you think it fine, or even desirable, for them to destroy their insides? I’m not saying to try to force everyone to quit- I’m just saying to stop encouraging and romanticizing it. Love isn’t about trying to change people, but it is about protecting wellbeing and not encouraging them to be less healthy than they already are.

Please don’t hate me for the rant, I understand the different points of view and won’t judge your opposing thoughts or way of life, but I really don’t like how there’s this pressure to do something pretty negative

Let's talk about something serious real quick. Schizophrenia. I have it in a moderate to serious case, and most days, I can keep others from realizing I have it It isn't something that most people talk about, in fact, I dont tell others, it's almost like it's taboo because it's not nearly as common as anxiety or depression. I am beyond glad people don't pretend to have it because it's not something I'd wish on a person. Its horrible, just like any other mental illness. It doesn't create an artist like Facebook says. Its not quiet whispers in your ear, or a scary thought once in a while. Its fingers down your spine, chills on your ears. Its forcing yourself to eat with your eyes closed so you can't see it changing and morphing. Its screaming at night because the shadows are touching you. Its hiding under your blanket with headphones so loud you can't hear the laughter of the voices. Its not drawing "creepy abstract art". Its living a nightmare that never ends. People don't pretend to have this and it's already hard enough for me. Imagine someone with an illness that everyone pretends to have and romanticize.
