49. “I may be an idiot, but I’m your idiot.” — Bonnie/Tyler
It isn’t that she doesn’t love Tyler. She does. She loves him so much its ridiculous. Sometimes she’s even overwhelmed by it. The thing of it is, he’s not always that loveable. It isn’t the anger that gets her. Anger she can understand. She feels it herself, constantly brewing under the surface. They’ve been through enough that anger is to be expected. The thing that get’s her, the thing that really gets Bonnie, is that Tyler has never quite grown out of his dumb jock phase.
She can take it that he calls her by her last name majority of the time. She finds it almost endearing. Though, she does draw the line at being called “Bennett” during sex. It is about the most unromantic thing that she can think of and so he manages to keep the moniker out of the bedroom.
She can even stand the jokes. They’re dumb, immature, and majority of the time full of sexual innuendo. But she can still manage a laugh at them and sometimes its even genuine.
She only makes a few snide remarks when Tyler snaps her on the ass with a towel every morning after she gets out of the shower. This is often easily combated by asking him to join her. Tyler is, if nothing else, rather easily distracted.
She can deal with the sports metaphors, though they are plentiful. She only rolls her eyes every fifth or sixth one. She’s gotten used to those.
She honestly doesn’t mind him working out more than the normal person. She actually likes that bit. He’s something to see when he’s shirtless and sweating, that sight also often leads to shared showers.
The thing Bonnie hates is constantly having projectiles aimed at her. It always starts with two words, “Heads up!”, and then she’s ducking to avoid a wayward football or a pair of boxers that he’s trying to land into the laundry basket or balled up chip bag that he’s attempting to punt into the nearest waste basket. No matter what the object, her response is always the same. “You’re an idiot.”
Tyler smiles a slow smile each time, that Bonnie hates to admit she returns. “I may be an idiot, but I’m your idiot.”
