A penny for your thoughts
For several minutes Thomas and Mary sat silently, then finally Mary looked at Thomas and said “A penny for your thoughts, Thomas”
Thomas felt it as an insult
Thomas “My thoughts are way too expensive than a penny!”
What Thomas didn’t know is that “A penny for your thoughts is a way of asking what someone is thinking”
So if someone ever says this to you, don’t freak out!
