Can I just add that we've been seeing certain fans blame strategy and send race engineers/strategists/mechanics death threats over it, yet Lando was put on a less-than-stellar strategy and still earned points? We have a post with 100+ notes calling him mediocre, but to be fair, he fought like hell to get that car back in the points and essentially did what Daniel hasn't been able to do much of the season. Without taking any other cars out, at that. Maybe I'm biased but i don't see how that was a bad race from him 🤷🏻‍♀️

i know you like jake hughes and i found out about his youtube podcast from a few years ago (it's under jake hughes racing) and omg you need to check it out if you haven't yet, i'm having so much fun with this 😅 there's one with max fewtrell (be forewarned though this one actually starts out kind of sad) but he tells the story about lando having to be velcroed into his karts and jake is just so confused about it at first 😂 there's also one that's really, really interesting with oscar piastri! idk how you feel about them, but there's ones for jack aitken, marcus armstrong, liam lawson, felipe drugovich, and others too. they're kind of informal and more like friends hanging out than like a serious, professional podcast imo but there's actually some interesting stuff in some of the ones i have had time to listen to so far.

here is it by lap too to put it in perspective. even with this car, if they wouldn't have had the problems and needed to pit him like every 10 laps, points would have been likely. at least to fight for a few. I'm not giving up hope yet 🤞

1-A double header in 2 different time zones, MCLAREN

2-then 2 McLaren sponsorship's events in 2 different time zones during the week off whilst his teammate spends time with mates in Montana, MCLAREN

3- A sim day at MTC whilst battling jetlag MCLAREN

4. He has a meet and greet on 27th for Quadrant at Bluewater shopping center with Krispy Kreme. QUADRANT

5. His home race is the next one where he will be in demand. MCLAREN.

Good lord for him going I need a Break for a day or two. Also spending time with his girlfriend who also travels for work...

Lando has said he struggles to say no to Fans. If he went to Goodwood, he would be working. Not having a break. Then they would complain he wasn't resting before the race.

So he has been doing McLaren work, had a couple of personal days then he has quadrant stuff seems like he's balancing stuff fine.

The man doesn't owe anyone anything.

Just asking but didn’t the engineers say that Dan had pace? I think it would’ve been okay to switch them as there’s wasn’t really a threat behind. (FYI I’m a Lando fan) Anyways the race is tomorrow…

He had pace in the position he was which was right in Lando's DRS range. Of course he felt quicker. However, the pitwall has extensive data on both cars that they can easily analyse and if they for whatever reason thought Dan was quicker they would have let him have a go.

When Lando in one of the past races was told to stay behind but said he would be quicker in free air (once again, because he was behind Dan with DRS) they didn't let him pass either and made him stay behind (even tho they promised him he would get a chance to try his pace) to give back to Dan for the help at the start of the race.

There could have easily been data about his tyres that showed he wouldn't last pushing or whatever data on any other part of his car. We literally see a snippet of what goes down between drivers and engineers and also between engineers who arent on the radio but are seeing all the data.

A team wont just go and shaft their drivers if he's actually quicker and has any chance to score them any/more points during a race. It could even be as easy as his side of the garage wanted the p11 side of the starting grid or whatever. It's not as easy as Dan or anyone saying "i'm quicker let me by" and exactly that happening immediately.

(FYI i will forever be a Dan fan prior to being anyone else's fan, so don't come at me with "oh the stupid lando fans all think this", I will be the happiest in the world the moment Dan wins) everything) <- not for you anon, you are always welcome to ask anything 🫂

Lando was told that if Dan couldn't get Alonso they would let him try and if he couldn't they would swap back he agreed. Dan didn't get Alonso but they didn't let Lando try, which is also a reason why Lando properly questioned the order because well he wasn't given the shot like they said. They could of swapped back on the last lap.

Anyway everyone goes oh I wish someone would ignore team orders blah blah, then god forbid someone questions team orders that's not allowed because it's not their driver only their driver can do these things...

Anon, I love you and I literally could not have worded it better. I know someone will say they were running out of time for Lando to try, but that does not mean they didn't go against their words. They said he could try too and then next message is stay behind. I'm not saying it would have been better strategy for them to let Lando try, cause at that point he wouldn't have caught Alonso, but it explains perfectly why Lando was a bit more fed up about it.

If you think about it for just a second with a racer's mind, he was given a fair chance and then was ripped of it in like 2 laps time. Yes, team sees it better maybe and it was a good call as he wouldn't have caught him, but why say he would have a chance and then never let him have the chance if in the end, Dan would have been allowed to finish in front of him anyways.

In the end, it would have ended the same way, with double points, with Dan getting more than Lando, and I think generally Lando would have been okay giving back to him for the help he gave him at the start. But when you dangle a chance in front of a competitive person's eye but then rip it away, they will be pissed and they will speak up even if they are generally okay with the choice and are there to get the most points for the team.

The finishing difference in the Australian GP that made Dan stans so irritable for Dan not ignoring team orders: 0.434s. The finishing difference in the Baku GP that made Dan stans so irritable for Lando merely questioning team orders: 0.349s. Why would it have been so brave, so monumental for Daniel to have completely ignored team orders, but when the shoe is on the other foot, his teammate is evil and unsportsmanlike for even questioning them? Blatant double standards and hypocrisy. Every time

It is simply blatant double standards and hypocrisy just as you said. But it still manages to ruin the mood every weekend. The moment something happens I can already see what they will take out of context or not read up on enough and form it into hate just a few minutes later. It's tiring and brings nothing to the table other than make people, who are great additions to this fandom and create majestic fanart/fics/literally anything, and should be cherished. They will just kill the fandom and then be mad about no one interacting with the sport or them.

Ngl, I'm really glad about you guys sending these asks in. It let's people (me included) see that there still are people with common sense and a working brain. I love you all, never change and please never leave. It's literally our only hope to still have fun with something that at the end of the day is still just a sport.

The win was literally in the video just like Lewis was... why would they show a driver any more than an important moment, when that driver is now contracted to another team? Hope they have fun crying about it cause it will be their only fun about Dan as he doesn't have a seat unlike the by their words skilles Lando :)
