Year 2024 Fantasy Toys in Review:
it's been a wild ride! What was supposed to be a year where I get the last few items on my list was in fact, the year I grew my collection to double what it was.
So many good buys. So many quality toys. So many pretty pours. My collection was supposed to stop once I got my Coffee Titans, but... it did not!
And because I refuse to count or put up each and every toy I've purchased (there are a few I've yet to talk about or post and it will probably stay that way) here are some highlights...
The first buy of 2024. I requested a custom coffee Kyberwyrm from BBA and a few days later they posted this coloration for a drop that I fell in love with (and subsequently, fell out of love with my custom.). I asked if they would be willing to do a repour and quickly snatched it up when it dropped. The coffee Kyberwyrm was the very first item of mine that sold secondhand! 😀
Some gorgeous Zayns from MTW that I gave the inspo for (Volcanic lava) and requested both models and sizes and boy, did they deliver. When they previewed the toys, my stomach fell with a sense of 'i have to have them, but can I grab them' and I was stuck with that feeling right up until the moment they dropped. I still can't believe I got not only them, but a really pretty suction cup as well. 😮💨
Some Splice customs from XCA. My first custom with them which would lead my down a path of 2 more customs. I knew I was going to get a bunch of models from this shop, I had tried dwindling my list down from about 6 to only 2...
I now have 4 and I want one more. 😂
The Coffee Titans are where my collection was supposed to stop. 🫣 I had been *begging* PPS for these coffee pours to go along with my Medium coffee Titan, which I couldn't even use because it's too large. I couldn't pick which size I wanted... either a mini or a small. I think I had settled on small, but when they showed a preview of both, it was a wrap! *yoink*
Another pour inspo request from MTW and another week of having bubble guts over knowing I wanted these items, but scared they were gonna get snatched up before I could complete payment. Especially since a few people showed interest in them. thankfully I got them both and then I immediately wanted to throw up after. 🤮
HPE gave me my first and only maw, and what a beauty! The model is so creepy and gross... but in the best way! the teeth, the split tip tongue! then we get into that gooey pour over neutral colors and you couldn't dream up a more perfect series of events that brought me this love.
A mind blowing custom from FP! I feel like I can never do them justice! The owner was amazing at matching the colour of my very shoddy attempt to do the lineart and they very graciously completed the set. They even kept my custom color as a permanent option for future customs! I love this set so much, every item works wonderfully and whenever I pull them out of the bag, I get giddy over how pretty the colors are. 😍
A very much full circle moment from WV came late this year. I have last year's Sandworm Joruun and really wanted a match, so I purchased the matching Obscura a few weeks later. Ad much as I loved obscuras shape, it was just too big to fully use. a full year later, I requested the same pour in the inspo thread and they came through. Also sold the Medium sized one a few weeks later to a very lovely person. 💚
The last big purchase of the year and one that couldn't be more perfect was these Xeno inspired pours from HPE that are in the wanted models, needed sizes, and in a dual firmness pour that is just beyond perfect. This was such a good drop day, I remember I wanted these so bad I had a plan mapped out the night before about how I was gonna purchase them. 😂
And last, but not least, my most recent WBT models, the Small Human Bard and Xsmall Dwarven Barbarian in a bug inspired pour that complements my rubber ducky Shadow Demon from the year before. I had been wanting to do companion customs when I saw how well rubber ducky turned out (and WBT drips are the only drips I really like, for some reason) and kinda held back because I had the larger shadow demon as a 'match'. ai had to come to terms that Small Shadow demon just wasn't going to work for me and figured I'd only buy if it got sold. It sold to a very nice person and later that night, it was game on. I got Dwarbarian so fast after debating which party member I wanted more. I then ended up getting Human Bard anyway because I like the character art. 😊
Year 2025 Fantasy Toy Resolutions:
Sell the last 2 toys. I will be SO HAPPY once they sell... I am beyond discouraged, but not willing to go much lower.
Alabaster from XCA whenever the shop opens up customs. I have an idea for customs that makes me giddy!
Ikon either second hand or whenever DTE comes back from hiatus.
be strict with considering new models coming up. I am weak and the teasers already have me in a chokehold.
Purchase from a few shops I haven't purchased from. I have 2 in mind already and maybe one from a mutual who will be opening up next year.
A hand painted toy. I just haven't found a reason for hand painting, but I really like it.
More teenie trades. I freaking LOVED doing those this year.
Maybe a few secondhand squish buys. especially the ones on my list or any HPE squish that look like meat. 😂
Stick to the budget. I went a little over this year, but got some dreamies. I can't complain, as everything I have is very much wanted.
