Because this game can’t just let the story progress without throwing in some extra unforeseen drama—of course while Brick was walking his mom and grandma out, they run into none other than Montgomery and his mate, Roxanne.
Montgomery: Donna?… Good evening. And Mrs. Darling. [nods politely toward Kirsten] We were just in the area to visit a packmate—Wolfegang. I didn’t expect to see you in Moonwood Mill. Welcome back. It’s a pleasure to cross paths again.
Donna: I appreciate the warm welcome Montgomery. And while I'd love nothing more than to exchange pleasantries—I can’t overlook the manner in which your rules have been alienating Brick from his friends. You know he doesn't have family in this town.
Brick: [mouthing towards Montgomery] bitch…
Roxanne: It seems stubborn, but that’s how alphas operate around here. Just a bunch of chest-puffing if you ask me... but it’s just the wolf way, dearie.
Kirsten: Sounds like a good way to find out the witch way, if you ask me.
Montgomery: Your boy is free to gather with any of our pack members on neutral ground. I'd never prevent that. But if I granted concessions for him, I'd have to do that for all outsiders.
Roxanne: Speaking of neutral ground, this is a pretty slick new site you built here, Brick. Maybe you can invite them here? It’s just a lot safer if pack members know their place. Serious injuries have been known to happen to those who didn’t abide. Greg’s not just a legend.
Donna: I do appreciate what you’ve done for us, Montgomery. But if anyone harms my son over imaginary lines, they’ll be resting beneath them.
Montgomery locks eyes with Donna for a beat too long and she doesn't back down. There’s something careful in his expression; Then a little grin creeps in.
Montgomery: That's the Donna I remember... You still carry a pistol on you like you did when we traveled?
Roxanne clears her throat, as Brick rolls his eyes.
Donna: Nope. Even better—a wand!
