Donnie Wahlberg adores his fans
Donnie Wahlberg is not only part of the hottest summer tour, but he’s also busy staring in “Blue Bloods.” His reunited band, New Kids On The Block, has joined up with the Backstreet Boys to perform. This time around Wahlberg admits he does the music for the fans. “There are certain songs that I don’t particularly like of ours. But it doesn’t matter. Because when the fans react to them, it makes it all okay,” he says. He is so adamant about pleasing his fans that he even chased after one of them in Toronto. The woman was unhappy because she could not get a picture. So when he saw that she was disappointedly walking away, he ran after her and gave her a hug. He sees his fans in a new perspective now that he has returned to music. “It’s about the fan’s experience. They could do anything they want with their time and they’re choosing to spend it with us.” Plus, he says, “It’s very exciting to have been doing something for so long and find a way to make it new.” Acting is his other passion besides music. He always wanted to act, but with the success of his band he did not have any time to, until they went their separate ways. “You grow up on the streets of Boston, you don’t really think about becoming an actor. You just do it if you like it. People would say, ‘ Ah, get a real job.’ That’s what they would say about the group too.” He explains that when you grow up in the spotlight people have a lot to say. In the beginning he always set out to prove people wrong. With his success in both the acting and music world, he quickly came to the realization that, “Ultimately I’m only proving it to myself. “
