Walking along the National Mall this evening is how I imagine walking the Champs-Élysées in 1940 was for Parisians. There are roving gangs of people in Chinese MAGA hats, waving their Trump flags and looking about the place like they've just conquered a land and can't wait to exploit it. The only non-white people around are the workers setting up the concessions stands and selling souvenirs to kids who look like they've never been off the farm, while "Let's Come Together" blares from the speakers for sound check. It's the most depressing and saddening scene. I'll go a step further- it's a horrifying experience. We're about to step off a cliff. #inauguration #dc #donsjohns (at The Mall (Washington DC))
